I don't necessarily care if we play as the warden, just as long as, the story is good and I can really connect with the characters. I also wouldn't mind an Evil/Bad ending similar to KotOR where we were able to choose to reclaim our former title as sith lord. If I had to choose to play as the warden in DA2, I would have to say 'yay'.

Of course. This importing thing is new to video games and they should definately give us the chance to keep importing our beloved characters to future games/expansions. I mean, this is plain as day to me at least.

I'd prefer no importing and Ferelden's state to be ambigious than a crappy five minute cameo.

I'd prefer it if they made it like our Wardens answer to the calling in an origin like story going out after killing hundreds of darkspawn and that'd be the end of our current Warden so we can get a fresh start with a new character in DA2.

Yay.

I hope so too, but after Awakening, I won't hold my breath.

I would totally want to continue my Kallian Tabris (see avatar), but, the carryover would be too disappointing. I left her ending very specific, so unless they were willing to have certain party members return, I'd rather start with a new Warden.

Since their are so many endings, it will be hard to implement carryover like this, and even if BW attempts to carry much of it over, its going to disappoint someone. Idk, perhaps, if the romances are carried over at least decently, that would be awesome. We'll see :P

The only developer statement on record about DA2 was that it was not planned as a continuous series the way Mass Effect was. Implying that importing your DA Warden is probably not the plan, but... anything can change. Anyway, this has been discussed about 8,000 times already so google "Dragon Age is not a trilogy" if you feel compelled to assume I'm just making it up because I cannot be arsed to dig it up again.

No, you're not being an arse at all.  It's good to post this reminder.  Some of us who take this (this, meaing those who don't assume DA will have carry overs like Me2) for granted forget they are talking to some who just assume that there will be carryovers in every future BW sequel-game.

And actually, I was trying to imply in my earlier post that DA2 would be better off as not being a direct sequel for DAO grey wardens.

Besides, we most likely aren't going to see a DA2 for a long time.  BW is currently working on a Camelot based rpg, TOR and ME3.  Not to mention all the dlc's and expansion packs for games already out.

Yay - want to know why the heck I disappeared from Alistair's arms.

Or why we both disappeared - which prompts this question: why do you only disappear if you're LI is Alistair? It seems for everyone else you just go hang out with them..

Nay. I want a new perspective, and I don't want to be limited to the wardens and fightning darkspawn.

God help bioware if they pull another bhaal spawn story and we play as Morrigans baby in DA2. I will nerdrage so hard they'll hear it across the atlantic.

Realistically I think it would be difficult to continue as the Warden. His lifespan has already been drastically cut by the Joining so the events would have to take place in a relatively short time period after the events of the Blight. Another Blight could be centuries away by which time our hero would have expired.

I'd like DA2 to be about a new character, with a new background or Origin if you will. And I hope against hope that you have the option to not be a Grey Warden. I didnt like belonging to an organisation which allowed killing to preserve their secrets. Or knowing no matter what, my character would eventually succumb to the Calling. It took some of the enthusiasm away for me, knowing there would be no potential for a happy ending for my character.

If this is the case, I'd like some closure about my Warden. Awakenings didnt answer anything so I'm hoping for another expansion, hopefully better than Awakenings and with at least some answers. Oh, and Leliana returning!!

You also dissappear if you romanced Morrigan, as the epilogue states that rumor has it the Warden-Commander "headed west into Orlais, seeking the dark-haired sorceress that had fought alongside him during the Blight". You also dissappear if you didn't romance anybody at all, in which case you get a non-descript dissapearance.

This is the main reason I vote "yay".

If they dont intend for you to import, than theres gotta be at least more DLC/EP to tie up the original characters ALOT better, mine's been left in the lurch a bit..not to happy to be honest. I just want an ending that concludes everything before start anew.

I don't think the next game will have anything to do with a Blight. Aren't "ages" is the Dragon Age universe only like, a 100 years each? And we're already 30 years into the Dragon Age. So unless the change the name of the game to whatever the next "Age" is, the sequel has to take place sometime in the next 70 or so years. And our Warden should be alive for 30 or so of those, so its easy for the next game to still be him/her.

I personally think that when the epilogue says you disappear, its cos you went to Orlais and have some adventures over there, be that having to do with Morrigan and her god-child or not.

Tho I'm kind of hoping that you "get a little rusty" before then and level down some, cos you are way too overpowered during Awakening.

You could be right of course. At the moment all we can do is speculate.

I'm just thinking 30 years into the future, your character will be middle-aged. There would have to be relevant changes to how the character looks etc. If its a customer designed character, that could proven a little challening.

All your party character will be aged too. Maybe it will be called Dragon Age: The Mid Life Crisis years. Hehe!

If we arent fighting the Blight, then continuing with a Grey Warden character wouldnt be necessary. Unless of course there is some new darkspawn enemy to be concerned with. And if we are the Warden, then we'll pretty much know whats going to happen to him (with the Calling and all that!).

I think it we definitely need some closure with regards to the Warden. Neither Origins or Awakenings have provided many answers. Hopefully we'll get some of them in another expansion or in DA2.

But notice how they say what happened to you: you went to search for your black-haired lover. For myself, I just literally disappear, and if I luckily chose to make Alistair not a king, he disappears with me.

Sucks how we end up like the no-romance character :( why limit it to Alistair as a love interest?

Yeah, but in either case it's still dissapearance, with no sign as to what the result actually was. Compare to Leliana, where you two just hang in Denerim or something, and Zevran, where you somehow wind up running the Crows.

I know where you're coming from, though - my second playthrough is going to be on the FemCousland Queen. In any event, it still begs resolvement. =]

@TheBlackBaron:

Yeah.. I find it unsettling to know that if you romances her or Zevran, you gain more closure than if you decided to romance Alistair or no one.

I just played through as the FemCousland Queen and I ended up reuniting with Alistair only to "disappear entirely" a couple of years later.

I now plan to play as Anora being Queen and Alistair as my love interest to garner a proper ending..

Closure please! D:

I disappeared with leliana in tow. It's quite probable we'll see another expansion and hopefully the culmination of the warden's story.

This is in response to Leifa's post: what if Flemeth was killed in Origins? How does she become a threat in DA 2? I have not read any of the books, and i also vote YAY.
