This is in response to Leifa's post: what if Flemeth was killed in Origins? How does she become a threat in DA 2?

Its explained you cant really kill her. She'd sooner or later find a new host.

As I understand it, she'll just rematerialise after a few centuries again.

Yeah.. I find it unsettling to know that if you romances her or Zevran, you gain more closure than if you decided to romance Alistair or no one.
I just played through as the FemCousland Queen and I ended up reuniting with Alistair only to "disappear entirely" a couple of years later.
I now plan to play as Anora being Queen and Alistair as my love interest to garner a proper ending..
Closure please! D:

I suppose it's a result of Lel and Zev not being nearly as important to the storyline as Alistair and Morrigan, so it's much easier for them to get wrapped up nicely. Also, their fans squee louder.

Ah well. I'm still betting that the February 2011 date is actually the second expanison pack, and if DA2 follows a seperate storyline then it'll probably be a highly robust Throne of Baal-style EP to clean up all the hanging threads. I forsee a riot if the romantic stuff isn't cleaned up by then. <_<

EDIT: Also, in regards to the Flemeth discussion above, the Codex pretty much comes as close as it can to flat out stating she isn't dead without actually doing so.

Either or is fine with me. Yet, I will be tickled pink if the sequel involved fighting Two Archdemons... but I highly doubt it, but one can dream.

Absolutely NOT! *takes flame protection shield*

Enough of this "We are the Grey Wardens, oooh, we drank some blood, sacrificed a lot and we are the heroes" stuff. A companion warden is ok, but no thanks... old character stays where he/she is : Dead!

We wouldn't get Alistair. Or if we did it would be like Awakenings 5 seconds and no smooch!. Some husband he is. Anyway nay. My warden is retired, she went back to court tried to have a baby, ended up raising cats. Time for someone else to take up the mantle of protector of the weak snively.

Yay, but not with the same companions and/or country. I understand it would probably be harder to implement our Wardens in another country, but I don't want to spend another 40 hours wandering around Ferelden with characters I've already met, befriended, etc. Of course, I still want relatively large cameos (not like Wynne's or Alistair's minute-long cameos in Awakening) from old companions, but overall I want new interesting characters.

I'm an Alistair fangirl so of course I'd love to have him be a returning companion, but it's not really fair for him to return and not Zevran or Leliana, etc.

Overall, I just want some closure to my Origins character. I was fine with how it ended in Origins and could have settled for that, but Awakening's epilogue blew a huge hole through my sense of finality.

No, you're not being an arse at all.  It's good to post this reminder.  Some of us who take this (this, meaing those who don't assume DA will have carry overs like Me2) for granted forget they are talking to some who just assume that there will be carryovers in every future BW sequel-game.

And actually, I was trying to imply in my earlier post that DA2 would be better off as not being a direct sequel for DAO grey wardens.

Besides, we most likely aren't going to see a DA2 for a long time.  BW is currently working on a Camelot based rpg, TOR and ME3.  Not to mention all the dlc's and expansion packs for games already out.

What's the Camelot based RPG? I never heard about it, so I want to know.

Just finished the game! And it's great!

I would love to see a part 2 yeah, but I don't 'have' to play my old character again, but I do want to find out what happend to Morrigan, Leliana and the rest of the gang.

I also would love to see more things like Vigil's keep. Where you can upgrade your castle and troops. I seriously enjoyed that.

After reading The Stolen Throne, having the second book in the mail, sadly having to miss out on dlc due to some sort of bug or something and finishing Awakening. I would love to see a DA 2. I seriously would :)

Yes...

...but I would not be unhappy if the new PC were a child of the DA:O heroes: the child of the PC/Alistair, Alistair/Anora, PC/Leli, etc.). In fact, that would be a more suitable setting for a plot involving Morrigan's grown up god child as he or she would face a descendant of a hero from DA:1.

I hadn't heard about the Camelot RPG either... although Mythic (the Dark Age of Camelot guys) have folded into Bioware so perhaps it's DAoC2 or another title for that franchise. 2 MMO's from the same studio seems counter-intuitive/productive, though... I really dunno. Google didn't turn up much.

If Alistair and my PC could have a child, I would love to play it.  As it were, though, it doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon.

Here's what I would like to see:

1. Another expansion dealing with Morrigan and her god-child, where you can reprise your role as The Warden one last time. Coupled with Awakenings, this would result in a trilogy of sorts and bring that story of that character to an end.

1a: As a possible last gasp, I like the idea someone else had of a 'HOTU' epic expansion where your Warden answers the Calling and hits the deep roads to battle darkspawn demigods themselves, perhaps finally breaking the cycle in a way that the architect never could and ending the possibility of the last two blights ever occuring. This would also end the need for the order of the Grey Wardens themselves, allowing them to pass into history, their mission complete.

2. For DA2: A new campaign starting at LVL 1 with new character origins and nothing to do with Darkspawn or the Grey Wardens, except perhaps as random encounters/ sidequests. Do not force the character on the path of the Grey Warden. Instead, give us a campaign that branches early on in two directions: one generally good or 'grey', and one EEEVIL. The problem with DAO and similar games is that there is no real option to become a scenery chewing evil overlord. I personally don't like to play evil all that much, but when you do it sucks to have to do things like take a pinch of ashes and save Arl Eamon anyway. Bosh!

What I would really prefer is a loosely scripted story line filled in with two metric tons of sidequests, adventures, gear, etc. Basically a half dozen 'mini-campaigns' instead of one massively overriding storyline. Yeah, we need a beginning and an end, and an archvillain. Cool. Start as a LVL 1 peon or disinherited noble, and rise at the end to become King or Queen, either in the manner of Sir Galahad, Conan of Cimmeria, or Emperor Palpatine.

But in DA2 I don't really want to be a Warden or be tasked with dealing with the Darkspawn yet again. One Blight followed by the Architect was enough!!

I vote yay ONLY if we have considerable carry over from the last game.  That would be the whole point of using the same character.  If they decide to make "canon" story decisions that undo or trivialize my decisions from the last game then I'm not interested.  Leave my poor Cousland chick alone with Alistair and let me make a fresh character in that case.

I would like to continue my warden, but I do wonder what challenges are left. I killed five dragons (counting the two high dragons, queen of the blackmarsh, flemeth, and the archdemon), gaxkang, the mother, the architect, and a whole bunch of other things. The only challenges I see that could present a problem would be more political and not combat challenges. Asides from killing the Maker himself I see no creatures that could be a problem.
