Well, I don't roleplay a world, I tend to roleplay a character.StingingVelvet wrote...
Nay.
Every full game should take place in a different country, many years apart, and with perhaps a much different storyline focus. DA is not one man's story like Mass Effect, but a story of many people and a single world.
So... yay if choices are carried over and you're still free to make new ones.
Nay if there's canon endings.
Oh, and nay if they kill off Alistair. *nod*

Awakening has already gone crazy overboard on the "super l33t" talents and spells. Since I enjoy the progress of development, I can't imagine how they would enable players to keep their Awakening style 20+level abilities, and still allow meaningful character development in an entirely new game.
And much though I thought the ME2 approach was a creative way of solving the problem of the already super powerful protagonist, I don't really see it working for DA.

My warden's story came to a climax when he killed the Archdemon, and awakening played the role of mop up duty that brought his story to a satisfying close. If they do decide to allow me to bring him back, they had better find a way to implement his badassery into the game so that he's not doing something stupid, like tripping over himself during combat. The slayer of Archdemons and broodmothers had better not "forget" all prior knowledge on how to not suck just so that at some point the game can mention that all the people of amaranthine are really super happy that i didn't roast them like marshmallows.
I'd like to see more of the dragon age world through another set of eyes, and who says that person even has to be a grey warden? New characters for a new chapter would be awesome i think

Definitely "yay" for me. Unless they wrap up the Morrigan storyline in another expac, I can't see my Warden retiring just yet.
I would love to have the Morrigan storyline warapped up but I can also see the Morrigan story being wrapped up with a totally new character who does not even have to be a grey warden. The implication of Awakening is there is a major change with the darkspawns and they are no longer the menace they once was and the danger of another Blight is greatly reduced. So the story can start totally new with a beginning character who has plans for his/her life that has nothing to do with darkspawns and who knows nothing about Morrigan. However life is what happens to you when you are making plans for your life and the character is soon off on an adventure much like Bilbo Baggins. The story can then lead eventually to Morrigan.
As the epilogue in Origins state, Morrigan has left Ferelden so all the characters in Origins do not have to return except maybe in cameos.

I vote "yay". Darkspawn may not be a threat, but Morrigan's satan baby could be.
Only if Leliana also returns.

Well, I suppose it depends on the setting. If - DA2 should be set too far in the future or too far away, I would at least like to see references to my old character and her/his achievements. ME2 was a good example on how it can work - so let's hope they continue the quality work like that.

It's 'yea', technically, and yes, I'd like to at least get the chance to wrap my characters' stories a bit more. Right now, they feel very incomplete. (And that includes tying down loose ends with companions/LIs/etc.)
I thought the epilogue wrapped things up rather well with the NPCs in my play throughs. Sten goes home. Wynne becomes an advisor to the court. Ogden carries over to Awakening where there is a suitable ending for him. Lelianna "marries" my PC. Zevran sticks around as an auxillary to the grey wardens. Alistair's fate is rather definitive also unless Anora becomes sole ruler. Shale is a DLC character so there was not much of an ending with him. Only Morrigan's fate is left up in the air and that is deliberate. This is all straight out of the Animal House tradition.
So Origins has a very definite ending and Awakening could have started off with a new character instead of carrying over your PC. And a new character is an option in Awakening.
The only really dangling loose end is the fate of the darkspawn. That also is deliberate as it allows for sequels. However in Awakening, that loose end is tied up enough that any sequel could be about a menace other than the darkspawns. Morrigan's fate is definitely worth a sequel. Zevran could come back in a variety of side quests in sequels much like Wynne's cameo in Awakening.

I'm all for the Warden to return if for nothing else to deal with Morrigan. My whole problem with possibly dealing with Morrigan as a new PC is that it would kill the role-playing aspect of things for me. You as the player would know Morrigan's history and her past in Origins while presumably the new PC would not.
So long as Bioware has plans to finish up Morrigan's story( which they've said isn't over), whether thats in an expansion or sequel, I want to have my Warden resolve that plot, not some other Joe Schmoe hero guy.

Dragon Age should be more like the Elder Scrolls, where each game can be played independent of the other. Like many people said, Bioware should do something like Obsidian did in KOTOR 2.

This.
As I've said before in more words, my character, my god baby/voodoo child/demon spawn, my problem to solve. Not for an unconnected Johnny Hero to come along and handle.

I would feel cheated, if I didn't get to play out my character's life. The game was called Dragon Age:Origins. It put you in the mindset of a character so you felt like you lived your character's life. i am just not going to be happy until I play Dragon Age: Endings.
