The one thing they should have done with love interests

I know people are all like "Mass Effect is not a dating sim!" every time anybody brings up something about expanding love interests and whatnot, but there's one thing that really bugs me and I wish bioware had done differently about the whole romance thing.

I just think that, if your love interest dies on the suicide mission, there should be a special scene or at the very least a different reaction from Shepard. I know Shepard's tough and all, but it just feels cheap that he's able to completely take that in stride like it was anyone else, as if he doesn't care all that much. Nothing elaborate, but I just feel SOMETHING should be there.

I agree. I even think for ME3, they should have it so that if you have a romance with a character and bring that character along with you on missions and other planets and such, the dialogue should be slightly different.

I'd like the relationship to show, outside of just a few convos in the Normandy and that's it.

I've been ranting about this in the NSAS for ages, off and on. The relationships *need* to have a bearing outside the Normandy. Reactions to events in missions, yes. Differing dialogue, yes. Your LI trapped under that beam after killing the Reaper Baby? Could we at least get a line of some sort of concern? :< Oh, and what happened to the party yelling your name when you were taking heavy fire/killed from ME1? I liked that, made me feel like they cared. Now you don't hear a thing, though that doesn't have to be limited to LIs.

We should have a nympho who'll sleep with you everywhere.

On the back of a Thresher Maw or on a planet with deadly toxins in the air? Hells yes.

Yeah Shepard shouts if Jack dies on the Normandy (if you dont upgrade) but for no one else. It feels a bit out of place when Shepard just shakes it all off, he maybe a strong man mentally and physically but he is still human, show more emotion dammit!

Incidentally, I haven't heard people complain about Mass Effect being a dating sim as much as I've heard people talk about other people complaining about it. For me, friendships and relationships are what make Bioware games special.

The locker scene in ME1 was the only time it actually looked like Shepard was about to cry.

She doesn't even sleep with you, I don't even know if she's considered a romance option either.

And I loved it. To pieces. I like seeing Shep not always be some tough-as-nails type.

She is considered a romance option, but its more a fling than anything.

And you can decide what they did that night besides having dinner.

Yea somethin would make it feel like it mattered more than that 1 sex scene....I don't think i could let me LI die tho but even the post game Captains cabin scene could have some type of dialogue...the relationships are pointless to continue after the suicide mission other than hoping they mean somethin in the import...

Same, Shepard needs to have a breakdown, cry, throw something. Show some humanity!

Then why isn't it considered cheating on your ME1 partner?

[/quotes]He also sounds really emotional on Horizon, his voice cracked a little when he said "I've had enough of this colony." (He met Ashley, not as a romance.) If only they could do more stuff like this. For the most part though, I find that femshep has more emotion, except at that part on Horizon.

Shep also loses it when he's a sole survivor and responds sympathetically to that soldier.
