I'm using blender now to model new weapons and I'm not sure how big or small I need to model them on the grid, or does it even matter if I use the command Line tool?

Probably easiest to just import one of the original weapons into the 3d program and then model your own to match the dimensions. That said, default longswords are about 1.3m in length (the blade is ~90 cm long) The two-hand swords are ~1.85m long, with the blade taking about 1.25m of that.

All model files are located in ../packages/core/data/ sub-folder in location where you have installed DA. The *.msh files are stored inside archive "modelmeshdata.erf" and the *.mmh files are in archive "modelhierarchies.erf" in the same place. You can extract that content using the Toolset, if needed.

I use DATOOL which is just easy as you can quickly find the models you need.

When you click save and pick a directory it just throws the .msh file you need along with the other stuff into that directory so you can avoid the massive .erf file browse.

ok now I've saved the files into my work folder. I have the MMH, MSH, etc. files. now I just need to convert them via GUI TOOLSET? I know i'm doing this wrong. when I try to open them in blender I just get "Unknot filetype error" even after I convert the file.

1 unit = 1m in game. No need to import models.

thanks chewy, but how many units/m's long are items such as longswords or greatswords? I'm just trying to find out how big or small my model have to be in units before I export them into game. I jsut want them to be the proper size. what I was trying to do earlier was to extract, convert DA sword file so I can see it in Blender so I can use it as a ruler. that way I can just build my mesh right next to it so it would be in proper proportion.
