When we look at superheroes we see beings like Superman and Wonder Woman who are quite capable of saving the world and no task seems to be too big to handle but as we look through the crowd of superheroes we see some that are less than average and even some that would seem totally useless in most situations.

What I want to know is what is the most useless superhero that you have ever seen?

For me I would have to give my vote for the atom, his only super power seems to be the ability to shrink in size, think about it what is it that he hopes to accomplish? Sure he could shrink himself down and slip through the cracks and infiltrate an enemy base but then once he is inside wouldnt he be thwarted by the fact that he doesnt actually have any useful super powers with which to combat the bad guys?

Anyway what is your vote for useless superheroes?

If anyone says Deadpool or Batman, Imma slap them. Batman isn't a super hero (he's a rich bloke with a lot of toys, just like Tony Stark/Iron Man) and Deadpool is a merc, not a super hero.

As for useless superheroes? The whole Great Lakes Avengers team.

The most useless superhero (with super powers) is Spider-Man. All goes well until he has to face his ultimate arch nemesis "The Swatter" and his side-kick "The rolled up Newspaper".

Atom can shrink himself down and travel through phones, presumable by hitching a ride in an electron. He's also the go to guy if you want to find the weakness of something. He's not useless, and he probably can do more but I've been up all night.



I vote for that invisible kid from mystery men, his power only works if no one looks.

Batman is a superhero, just because he doesn't posses super strength doesn't mean he isn't a superhero, he could probably beat most of other heroes.



Now about the question.... Mr Fantastic from Fantastic Four... I mean... elastic powers:P

I am sure there would be uses for the Atom's super power but not many, and even the few problems that he is able to solve would probably be handled better by most other superheroes. There isnt much that the Atom can do that any superhero worth his salt couldnt do better.

Luke Cage.



He is strng and has tough skin. Other than that his only powers are being a figurehead for blaxploitation and an ability to spew bad street slang at an alarming rate.

The Atom isn't Ant-Man or Shrinking Violet - he actually does things with his weight and density, and is a scientist so he helps with figuring things out as well.  Atom can go into the sub-atomic world as well.  It's more than just getting small.

Mr. Fantastic is the smartest man on Earth, that's got to count for something.

Most useless super-hero?  A tie between The Sentry and Jewel

The Sentry was "brought back" in part to round out the "JLA-ing" of the New Avengers for BMB's ego.  He has the "power of a thousand exploding suns" which really should mean that he lasts a few moments and is just utterly destructive - lame.  Sure, he's POWERFUL, but really, did we need another superhero who's defining quality is "he's stronger than everyone else - this week."  The character has no point in existing except as a McGuffin for BMB's storytelling.

Jewel - BMB wanted to write Spider-Woman as Luke Cage's accessory, wasn't allowed to, so he created  "Watchman-esque" copy of Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) in Jewel (Jessica Jones.)  Once BMB was allowed to bring Spider-Woman into the New Avengers, however, Jewel was relegated to Cage's baby's momma and token obsessive parent.

I'm looking at story-useless, pointless to have - not useless powers.

You want useless powers?  Flatman comes to mind.  Followed by every single "super-hero" who's big thing is using guns.

Damn. Merin gave such a good answer I can't begin to match it.

I'm going to go with a specific type of wannabe hero. There are too many to list, but everyone knows a few. Specifically, villains that try to turn over a new leaf, become heroes, fail spectacularly, and then relapse into their old ways. Regardless of their abilities or knowledge these characters often suck at being heroic. A few may accomplish one major feat of daring-do, but most in this category can't hack it long enough to do even that.

The Atom isn't useless he just never really got a great creative team to make him really interesting. That's starting to change with Geoff Johns though. He's more than likely going to be a big player in Brightest Day. I guess we'll see how useless he is in that story.

I will never look at Doom the same way... he wears armor and those squirrels are hurting him? Honestly would have been less embarassing for one of the most dangerous character if he were allergic to them instead... oh well guess we still have Magneto as an evil figure to look up to

Yes but what can he do that most superheroes cant do better? What problems would he be a suitable candidate to fix?

Besides if I needed a scientist I would call Batman, dispite having no superpowers he is probably one of the more dangerous superheroes, if he put his mind to it he could take down Superman easily.

What is the male wonder twins power? Isnt it just turning into different forms of water (ice, steam, regular water ect) or is it more than that?
