I dont see why people dont like him? Ohgren and Zevran are the funniest characters in the entire game. Particularly if you keep them together.

I really wish bioware would have put in a script where Ogren takes off his pants in party camp.

Ya I don't get it, I love the two of them (Zev+Ogh+Shale = BEST GROUP EVER), but they have a great deal of haters.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.....how on EARTH does this promote the deliquency of minors? You think minors are ignorant of alchohol and it's effects? First of all, as a father I couldn't care less what my son is exposed to so long as he knows the difference between right and wrong. And Oghren is an ADULT so I don't see how that has anything to do with minors.

It's one thing to have an opinion, but now your just spouting ignorant statements to support your dislike of a character. Your SUPPOSED to dislike him, he's MEANT to be crude...cause there's not people like that out there in the real world...no not at all.

Really what this boils down to is this game is rated at 17+....AKA adults.....SOOOOOOO if as a parent you don't want your kids exposed to it? Do your ****ing job and stop expecting everyone else to do it for you. Now I suggest that one of these "I Hate Oghren" threads be made a sticky so we don't have more and more of them keep cropping up. I absolutely and utterly hated the character Wynne...[sarcasm]maybe I'll go start a thread about that! [sarcasm]

I just use Oghren for his Ale...but really he's an alright character full of personality

Not entirely sure where you're going with that. Origins was an 18-rated game.

If 'minors' play it in defiance of the rating, and somehow become morally corrupted as a result of seeing a drunk character (the killings, violence, decapitations, burning-alives, torture scenes and executions are obviously absolutely fine, as long as there's no drunkenness, right?) then surely that's the fault of the parents that let their kids play the game in the first place.

In Awakenings I can't win for losing with him and the way the conversation system is it's practically impossible for me to get on his good side so that I can get his personal quest.

Yeah, unless you take Oghren everywhere with you in Awakenings, it's as near-as-dammit impossible to get enough approval points to complete his personal quest.

I usually start off by using Oghren as the main tank right up until I recruit Velanna, who, in her rebuilt Arcane Warrior/Battlmage form is an unstoppable, almost unkillable tank. This leaves poor Oghren sidelined and kicking his heels in the Keep.


So what I've taken to doing is saving as many gifts from Origins as possible and carrying them over into Awakening. I usually have a stash-load of gifts left, even after all the Origin companions are at friendly status.

Each gives one approval point in Awakenings. Ply Oghren with enough of them, after exhausting all normal Awakening gift/conversation options as you'll soon have enough approval to complete his quests.

None of the above makes much sense from a role-playing perspective as you're essentially gaming the system, but it's still a solution for completionists like me.

To all the people saying Oghren sucks as a tank - He's not meant to tank in his default build, that's what the potion of respecialisation is for. Properly respecced and equipped he makes a fine tank... it's just that the (possibly overpowered) Arcane Warrior/Battlemage build blows everything else out of the water.

I have the same problem, both in Awakenings and more so in Origins. I run into inventory problems in Awakenings and there's the diminishing-returns-carrying-over-but-approval-not issue that irks me as well. I usually give him as few gifts as possible in Origins and use the console to conjure Awakenings gifts that will give better returns in that game.

Personally, i'd rather Oghren in DA2 over everyone except Bethany and Varric. But thats a whole 'nother topic...

My least favorite DAO companion was Sten. But i do not dislike Sten, I just prefer everyone else for various reasons.

OP is just jealous that Oghren can drink him under the table and he will never have a beard like Oghren's.
