As for encouraging the delinquency of minors... that's absurd, I can tell you kids don't look to video games to see whats cool, and those that do are not the type of kids to drink underage

Seriously, i specced oghren as tank, shield+ sword, defender + spirit warrior + berserk, by the end of the game he had over 900 HP and over 500 Sta,

saying hes bad means people have no idea how to spec him and use him

I've given Oghren a fair chance on several occasions mainly because I felt "sorry" for him, and because he reminds me of me (drinking) when I was much younger. However, he just doesn't cut the mustard as a fighter in any capacity, so now whenever I select my party I leave him him behind to cry in his beer unless I'm going to the city where he has access to the bar.

I hate Oghren. Would you REALLY make a drunkard a warden? Or accept someone into your party that quite obviously is mentally unstable? Or at least unable to control his temper, and prone to drinking, which will result in him doing reckless things?



I could justify every other NPC. Alistair because, guess what? The only other Grey Warden! (and nominally more experienced fighting Darkspawn than you) Morrigan? Maybe not completely trustworthy, but obviously has a vested interest in fighting the Darkspawn and using you to become more powerful, plus extremely knowledgeable about magic and very cunning (and hot!). Sten? Giant, veteran Qunari warrior that has sworn loyalty to you until the Archdemon has been defeated? Check. Wynne? Nearly master level mage that has adventured extensively in the past and is well-learned. Leliana? A little harder of a sell for me, but has uses as a scout and is quite apparently inspired to do good, so not an apparent threat to you unless you're "evil". Shale? A GOLEM, enough said (also funny). Dog? Your own war dog. Zevran? A gamble- seems to really have no reason to return to Crows (provided Crow punishment for failure), and doesn't desire to die (for sure). I almost executed him, but then thought I could make SOME use of him. Couldn't think of any reason to keep Oghren- wish I could have kicked him out so he could have had the good grace to go join the Legion of the Dead or something...

I have a Dwarf warrior. With Sigrun and Oghren, I finally have "Team Dwarf" I didn't care for Oghren too much in Origins, but his witty remarks in Awakening make up for it. I just wish that the team at Bioware did a better job at linking up your imported character. There is no recognition between your character and Oghren; no dialog that links your characters together (e.g. Sheppard and Archangel).

The other issue I have is the lack of romance between you and the new characters. I always wanted a romance between my dwarf and another dwarf, or between my elf and another elf. The team made some cool characters, and yet they are pretty disconnected from the main character. To me it feels a little forced. Just MHO

I always get Nathaniel immediately now and then I head off  with him and Anders to get Justice.

Its called Free Speech. You have every right to love Oghren just as it is our right to dislike him.  

Sad thing is I did like him....in Origins. Aside from his banter with Anders and such, he's written very badly.

Some of his banter with Morrigan is pretty amusing, even though he disliked me for destroying the anvil. His attitude gets better with his gifts though like any other character

wow. personally, i hated zevran and sten. i use oghren a lot more than those two clowns. with all the warriors, sten is just a waste. alistair and shale are superior followed by oghren.

I don't exactly hate him, but I don't really like him in Awakenings either. In Origins once I got him to talk about something other than asschabs or falling over drunk, he turned out to be a decent character and I've started getting him sooner as a result. He has a bit of depth to him once you get him to open up. He wasn't my favorite, but I would take him out of camp on occasion just to see what he had to say about things.

In Awakenings I can't win for losing with him and the way the conversation system is it's practically impossible for me to get on his good side so that I can get his personal quest. Maybe I'd have a different opinion of him if I could, but as it stands I just leave him in camp. There's only so many drunken antics I can handle before I start feeling like a baby sitter, and he's drunk more in Awakenings than he was in Origins. So much for all the progress he had made before.

On a side note it irritates the heck out of me that he went from talking about my character being like family at the end of Origins to getting pissed at every conversation option I choose in Awakening. I mean come on, really? He's talking about rashes and gets mad when I ask what he touched? Since when is teasing off limits with him?

This is the same problem I'm having with Oghren.   He absolutely detests my char in Awakenings, and no matter what I do I can't win. A big difference from being like family at the end of Origins.
