On Insanity, I was damn lucky to have the Cain with me during that particular part. Cleared two of the platforms in one shot.

actually as a soldier its quite easy, the vindicator kills everything in a few seconds with incinirary ammo.

the 4husk togheter are annoing as hell, try to kill them first.

i did it with a vanguard, infeltrator and soldier.

vanguard was sheer impossible took me atleast an hour or 2

soldier quite easy same goes for infeltrator.

insanity is nice

Several retries, also as a Sentinel/Insanity. It was a pretty tough area, although I still think Eclipse Smuggling Depot was much harder for when you get access to it during the game.

This was without a doubt the most frustrating moment of Insanity. Especially considering I only had 2 medigel on me at the time and it was pretty much wasted because in the first five seconds both of my squadmates would get owned.

I started a regular routine after my fifth or sixth death that eventually led to my success. As a soldier I'd wait for the platform with the first scion to pop up (his platform shows up soon after the first platform with all the collectors slide into view) and I'd Adrenaline Rush + snipe him in the head with the widow and incendiary, which would make a substantial enough hit. I'd make sure Shepard reloads the widow before switching to the arc projector (sadly I forgot to change my HW to something more awesome beforehand) and I'd start charging it up so it would zap the collector's the moment they landed in front of me. I'd then get Miranda to warp the f*ckers (hopefully destroying most of their defenses) while Mordin incinerated the scion. At the same time I'd attempt to charge and fire the arc projector at them a second time. Inevitably one of them would always survive to become Harby so then it would simply become a case of me juggling my squaddies away from the scion's attack and Harbingers stupid little flying balls while we all chipped away at them with our powers and guns. If I could have sex with the Widow, I would.

With a bit of luck both the scion and Harbinger will be dead by the time the next two platforms come, but they're not as hard considering they're further away and there are more opportunities for cover. By then you've just gotta make use of everything you have. I don't think any of my team went more than half a second before being sucked back into power cooldown limbo.

Staying back and using tactical cloak with the Widow on Infiltrator defnitley helps. Your teammates can die, you don't even need them if you do that.

But, if a collector, espcially Harbinger, rushes your position, you're done.

I would argue for the final pack of husks/aboms + scion during The Long Walk (Biotic escort) being harder.

Can't run.

Can't hide.

Cannot drop them fast enough.

Solution? Cain.

Yeah, it's pure hell. Worst part is honestly the platforms + pants is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier.

Wel, I'm sure I did about 10 replays to figure out how to deal with it (I'm a Sentinel too). On this spec:

I rarely order squad to take ceratin positions - they do better on themselves, I just make sure they handle suitable weapons (so they could take less time uncovered when reloading), and don't run forward.
Calling target is important. I make sure to clear all collectors to avoid further Harbringer spawning. I'm ordering to attack while I take care of scions (Warpbombs!).
And... That's all really. When I figured out what's what, it took me just few minutes... (I don't remember who was with me, Samara&Grunt or Mordin&Grunt...)

played a sentinel, only had the first SMG and the carnifex, no heavy weapons ammo, beat it first try. dont see what people have trouble with here.

The first part of that was definitely a little tough with my Infiltrator. I just had no place to retreat to and I couldn't drop Harbringer fast enough. In the end I beat it by restarting and taking the grenade launcher. I then rapidly unloaded my heavy weapon ammo on the first two platforms to arrive. After that it was easy.

I've heard many times now, that people have a hard time with that scene on insanity.
When I had my sentinel (only insanity run so far) there, I didn't think it was hard.
I had much (much much much) more problems with the 2 Scions on Horizon.

If you take Thane and Samara to the disabled collector and you are a sentinel, then you have 3 armor and barrier killers (2 x warp, 1 x reave) and 3 throws available. Stay on your initial platform and warp/reave a collector to get rid of its barrier and then throw it off the platform. They have wings, but they fall to death anyway. Stupid bugs. Do the same with Husks/Abominations - first warp/reave the armor and then throw them. The only thing that makes a little more trouble are the scions on the final platform. But if you stayed on the first platform, they're too far away to come towards you. Now approach carefully until they're just in range to be targeted. If you're lucky they will still not come for you (was that way when I were there) even when you warp and reave the sh!t out of them. If that works, you can kill them slowly without even fireing one bullet.
If they do come for you, seek cover and fall back if they get too close. They should be not much of a problem with that squad either way.

Seriously, sometimes its luck. If you're squad goes down within the first few seconds, you're in trouble. But if the AI doesn't screw up and your squad is still good to go and you can take down the first platform fast to give yourself room to maneuver, you're good.

Frankly, i just prefer to Cain the first platform

It's not that hard, you just have to be aggressive and do not give them, especially Harbinger, chance to pin you down or flank you.
For Vanguard a tactic that imho proved to be good and effective is to position your squad behind cover on the first platform, order them to attack the unreachable Scion and then Charge the first group of Collectors as soon as they arrive - kill the two drones, launch one Warp at the Scion, second Warp at the Guardian, that triggers (or it seems to) his transformation to Harbinger a little bit sooner than it normally would, so Charge again and kill him before he touches the ground.
Then switch to Heavy Pistol and shoot the Scion until the next platform with 3 drones arrives, then Charge them and kill them. Another Scion comes, but he is a piece of cake for Vanguard thanks to Charge.
Then finish the other Scion, unless the squadmates already killed it and then just kill the last group.
Inferno Ammo does wonders as far as crowd control goes and is very good against armor.

Here is a demonstration of the above tactics:
Vanguard: Collector Ship

Soldier owns the platforms rather easily, see this great vid by rumination888:

There are several levels to which i found much harder, the first phase on Horizon with the army of husks and 2 scions was without mercy (me playing an Adept).

The Collector ship really gives you some adrenaline.
The most crucial thing i found at this part was to always kill Harbinger. If he got close its like the equivalent of fighting naked.
As soon as he was down, i had both my squad mates focus on the same Collector, basically i had 2 Warps and a Concussive Shot. The Scion can be left alone until the Collectors are dealt with.
Whenever i heard "ASSUMING CONTROL!" i just wanted to kill someone :P

Black Storm Projector works very nicely on Insanity Platforms of the Collector Ship.

Liberal use of the arc projector helped me clear the collector platforms. Basically as soon as they arrived I unleashed three zaaps of it, killed most of the collectors no problem. Finished the rest off with Revenant+AR. Incendiary ammo on the Viper drops Scions really quickly.

To keep the collector inf busy I prescribe combat drone.

"Hey look, a shiny disco ball. Lets shoot it."

This is how I did it, in theory.
