In my last DAO playthru, I did a Rogue/Ranger/Bard with a split focus on Archery and Dual Wielding. Instead of being great at one, I decided to be moderately good at both.

Is this viable going into Awakenings? I just got the expansion, and just by looking at the new talents I find myself wishing I had stuck with one or the other.

I am thinking of restarting and sticking with either Archery or DW.

What's a pure Archer to do when the enemy closes to melee range? Continue plucking at them with the bow and rely on Melee Archery?

Just use the respec book, put almost everything into Dex except for a few points for requirements in CUN/STR and just take the new Accuracy sustained, literally with that alone you can auto-shot for 150 and have over 50% crit lol... Archery became overpowered as hell in Awakenings

Indeed, use the re-spec book to focus on one or other. I actually run a DW/Archer Warrior, which is almost more viable due to the massive reduction of warrior talents compared to rogue. I found it a rather satisfying build.

Besides, the rogue u can recruit in awakening is an pure archer character, so u got that part covered. just try out the new specs, u can buy the respec book in the keep store once u have been trough the intro battles.
The legonnaire scout  is fun, the shadow  is only handy if u are a stealth rogue, otherwise just focus on your new rogue talents.Posted Image

It depends what system you play on, if you're on pc you'e fine and as others have posted here some of the new abilities are great for archers. If you're playing on xbox dex is still broken...making ranged characters still gimped sadly, so if you're on xbox I'd say go with DW.
