I have Windows 7 64-bit and when I click on "New Game", the game crashes back to desktop (Dragon Age Origins has stopped to work)!
It crashes also if i don't patch it or if i patch it!
Help me!
Thanks!

I'd look at other factors, such as drivers or hardware.

I have read that the game usually crashes on 64-bit OS, and may be you are a lucky one!Anachronous wrote...
I dont know why you assume its to do with Windows 7 64bit. I have the same OS and the game works flawlessly. I've had maybe 2 crashes in 60+ hours of play.
I'd look at other factors, such as drivers or hardware.
I exclude hardware problems!
What else?

A quick test is to go to your dao folder and manually start DAOriginsLauncher.exe if that works but you get nothing the other way follow the rest of the post.
Basically its how the game plugs into the "Games" control panel and the patch broke it.
If you have the system recovery stuff on use the following steps:
1) Browse to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship
2) Right click on daoriginsgdf.dll
3) Properties -> Previous Versions
4) Copy the old file into a folder.
5) Rename the daoriginsgdf.dll to something like daoriginsgdf.dll.broken
6) Copy in the restored file.
That will fix your links and the game will launch.

If you click and nothing happens at all its probably the daoriginsgdf.dll

Another question: may be the problem due to the fact that i have not installed netframework?

and also try playing without antivirus and firewall and see if that solved anything
and run the game as admin anf check if that works.

Have you done the usual steps? Windows updates, updated video drivers, spyware/virus scans?

The crash when i click on the button "start new game" is due to Ati Tray Tool, that usesa dll file (raphook.dll) that goes in conflict with the game; in fact, when i stop ATT, the game works with no problem!
