Right, I just finished my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2 and even
though it didn't end quite how I wanted it to, I want to keep my first
playthrough from each game as 'my story'.
The thing is, I'd
quite like to use my Shepard in another playthrough and that poses a
problem. Does anyone know what happens if I play through again with my
Shepard, will my set of actions in the second play through erase the
first set, or can I choose which playthrough I want when I start the
next one?
Did anyone try this with Mass Effect 1-2?
Cheers!

Any save that has the suicide mission completed with Shepard alive should be importable in ME3. Doesn't matter if you did new game+.

NG+ creates a new Shepard with the same face and stats

Just be careful to not make to many, or else you'll end up with ten different blokes all named John Shepard that are all the same class and background.
Its a real **** to tell who's who when that happens.

The new playthrough (even if you use your char from the first playthrough) would be consider a new character for import and save purposes. So it would have its own storyline etc...

The dates are kept on each character so it's not like the list is "John Shepard" two dozen times. Each import will have a date just like this game. So no real need to worry about names.
