Am I the only one who thought that the upgrade system would be much more comprehensive. For example, I thought the SMG would start off as a basic weapon with five components that could be modified as you went along; you could add a folding stock and a longer barrel for more accuracy and less recoil or instead of the stock you could add a cooling system that doubles the effectiveness of thermal clips. I was also slightly befuddled by the lack of Spectre Gear, but that's not too much of an issue.
Thoughts?

No, pretty much everyone would like to have expanded/balanced the first system. Opposed to the brain-dead simplicity of ME2.

I didn't mind it. The ME1 inventory system on the Xbox is a labyrinth of frustration. In ME2 you have different weapons with different feels and you upgrade those weapons. Adding a longer barrel for accuracy is the same thing as researching an Accuracy upgrade except you don't see the little tweak on the gun when you're firing. No big deal really

Not really, just sell everything that's below your highest level.
As to upgrades, I would love to see a semi-automatic rifle that shoots as quickly as you pull the trigger...
