Predators
Do you think it will live up to the original movie? Do you like that its setting is a homage to the original? Do you like the actor's? etc...
Personally I think it will be much better than the last "Aliens vs Predator" films even though the trailer is sort of poorly done imo. I'll be watching it, no matter how bad it is as I'm a predator junkie.

The cast comprises a bunch of weaklings that seem to have no potential chemistry with one another, and the Predator designs aren't as faithful to the original as they could have been.

Edit: So much for that mystery.

Looks awful. Robert Rodriguez is only producing, by the way; the director of the film is Nimrod Anton (?).

I like predator movies but this one might suck. I mean since when do predators start kidnapping humans for there own games, and predators don't hunt humans (well sorta) they hunt the xenomorpths, so this movie is probaly gonna fail
But that's only within the "Aliens vs Predator" franchise. The original Predator films were all about hunting humans. The only glimpse of them hunting other things was the shot of the inside of their ship at the end of Predator 2 where we saw the skulls of other races on display.
I like that they're going back to the roots of the franchise and are going to concentrate on Predator vs Humans only.

The yakuza guy is also a turn off. I
hope he's killed early on because I'm so tired of how overused and
misrepresented katanas and the Japanese warrior cliché is.
I agree, that old gem has been used to death, enough pseudo samurai characters in places and time frames they don't belong.

It is a Predator movie. It will have b-d
list actors, it will be poorly written, it will have a low budget, and
it will do well with the teenage male demographic. therefor make money
and thats all that really matters to the production company.
I would agree on every one of them except the original, I thought that movie was very well done and had great acting, for the most part (minus Arnie).
Plus I like Brody, Fishburne and Trejo, I think they've pulled off great roles and are far from D list actors.
Like I said, I think this could be good and all we have is the trailer, which is poorly done. I don't remember how many tragicly bad movies had awesome trailers and vice versa, so I'll reserve judgement.

They're clear as day if you go slowly frame by frame. No netting, oversized helmets, weird ass tusks, etc.

The thing that made predator good was how effective it was at setting it up, for nearly all of the movie barring the last 15-20 odd minutes, you don't even see it and when you do, it's a pretty cool payoff as it's design/behavior is utterly convincing than some big dumb-dumb monster. I think this movie could lack a lot of that fill-in-the-gap-with-your-own-imagination suggestive type stuff and just be loud and stupid. I hope it does turn out to be a great sequel like aliens was to alien.

Would be good if they kept it like the first film, but it's a Predator film at the end of the day so I'll watch it whatever.

It's going to suck. Just like Predator 2, AVP, AVP:Requiem,etc...
What the... Predator 2 is awesome! Its not an "art" movie like Predator 1, but it is still perfect representative of good old 80-90's action movie, the golden age of action movies.
About Predators hunting humans and xenomorphs, Predators hunt anything that provides the sport. Capable and well armed humans, xenomorphs, or any other alien race that is dangerous to them and is exciting to hunt and makes a worthy trophy.
Now about this trailer, it looks bit interesting. But I fear this will be just another watered down action movie. Reason? It looks very PG13! It sets very tight leashes to what movie can do gore, atmosphere and story-wise. This is the reason why Terminator 4 and AVP movies failed too. Even the katana on those trailers scream what kind of hollywood horsecrap this movie will most likely be. (and I love katanas, beautifully made swords and pieces of art, but nothing more)
Ever since AVP movies failure predator franchise fans have been begging that if they make sequel to Predator movies, learn from the mistakes of AVP and do not make it another PG13 movie.
*edit* Its not officially confirmed to be PG13 yet, but signs point heavily to that direction. I seriously hope I am wrong though, I have been waiting for new Predator for ages.
*edit2* Was looking around and this new Predator movie is propably R afterall. Thats a relief, perhaps it will not be as hollywood-esque as I feared.

Aliens VS Predator was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I don't think I can give this franchise another chance after that atrocity.
Whatever people's opinions are of the AvP series the bottom line is they grossed a ton of money. Go figure.
I don't take the movies all that serious. I think it's a fair statement to know what your getting when you buy a ticket or rent the movie. A sci-fi/action popcorn flick. Good way to waste two hours. Let's face it the formula is fairly simple. Predators hunt and kill things in gruesome ways while the Aliens try to mulitply their numbers. Humans, unfortunately, get stuck in the middle.
One thing that is kind of cool about the Avp movies is that they actually serve as a prequel to the Alien movies.
Getting back to the new Predator film. I'll watch it eventually.

Indeed. While AvsP brought them some money initially, it was very clearly bashed by everyone. And Fox felt it in their pockets when they dared to make sequel AvsPR, it was a disaster. Hopefully Fox learnt something from this, we Alien AND Predator fans are no fools and have a very clear idea how good alien and predator movies work.
