well i agree with everything you wrote smaaen90, but as you could see the story is about rebuilding the wardens in fereldan so thats prob the reason why the old companions wasnt use in awakening, (big shame tbh really like shale :P ) but in my personal feeling here, is that the game was rushed to fast cause alot of storys dont add up from origins tbh :P But im not gonna say more, cause i feel like spoiling the game :)

I would love to have a mix of chars from Awakening and Origins in a future game/expansion. I liked Velanna and Sigrun the most in Awakening, Shale and Lelianna from Origins. Tbh I like them all more or less, in their own ways - those 4 are just my personal favs.

I enjoyed Awakening, the only thing I didn't like as much was that I was unable to ''get to know'' my companions, I miss the conversation system from Origins but overall I really enjoyed it :)

Ashrite:
Yes, I'm quite well aware that it's about rebuilding the wardens, but they all followed me in Origins, and would have given their lives to aid me (or, my character), and seeing as my male char was together with Lelianna, I find it weird that she decided to skip out and go solo doing Andraste knows what ;) ^^

For C3d1C:

Miss the old conversation a lot as well. Where-as I do enjoy the Awakening introduced companions, I still favor the Origins ones.

Can't believe I'm about to do this, but *bump* in hope that a Dev actually reads and replies.

I thought that awakening was a decent expansion, but romances and a better ending would be like the cherry on the cake.

I agree with the above as well and had the same problem with being rammed into the final battle thing without getting the dwarf lady to become a grey warden either.

I liked clicking on stuff near the character and then we could talk about it. But I didn't get Ogren's personal quest, or the elf chick either. I wanted to but the game kind of is hinged on re-running around areas in hopes of clicking on something so you can talk to someone to get their loyalty meters up........ Dudes. Seriously?

I get that the fetch ingrdients thing from all over the place is so you go back to areas with different party members to initiate the aforementioned clickable dialogs but that got super boring after a while. And some of those fetch this or that quests were so un-awesome. So dis-awesome. At one point I was like 'WTF? I'm the hero of Fereldan and I'm buying booze for orphans?'

I did like the clicking part, but took me
a while before I noticed it. And it's way too hard with the few amount
of gifts and conversation triggers to get all to 100 (well, it's
possible, but hard during the time)

But as you pointed out yourself, the companion quests and lack of time to finish all sidequests was disappointing.

I really hope no one sees a reason to start acting like a douche / act rudely in this thread. Then again, it can always happen.

As far as macrocarl and his avatar, I've seen worse ;) .. Just not worse looking avatars.

I hope you make it without the thread getting invaded. I suppose the over / under is 3.5 pages. If it makes it past five my faith in humanity will be (partly) restored.

But seriously I agree with much of what you said. They certainly could have handled the romance / relationships better.  Even letters to explain why your love interest is not available would have been nice.

My bigger concerns though are with the over easy difficulty (even on nightmare), the imbalanced (and often busted) gameplay mechanics, and the fact that it is unclear if some of the top modders are going to be able fix any of this due to some of the new restrictions Awakening places on the modding community.

Still I don't get the people who think the 15-20 hours of gameplay aren't even worth $20-$25 (unless of course they are getting hit with all the nasty bugs) ...  at least considering how much two movie tickets cost nowadays.  If I am off base then boy I want to know what entertainment options they have avilable to them that I don't seem to know anything about

Yes, well, my main goal is not to reach "x" number of pages, just keep it alive long enough for a dev to read and hopefully reply (which in turn, might help them in future DLC packs/addons or even DA2). It's not to sound arrogant by saying I think what I say is worth getting praised or for devs to take into consideration.

At least, as a customer, and a Dragon Age fan I've given my input, and hopefully, they appreciate that.
Regarding people whining/complaining about it being way too expensive for 20 hour game play (note, importing and doing "New grey warden" equals two game plays, play with different characters, and you can easily reach 60hours. If you don't rush through it, that is.) - As you said, two movie tickets easily span up to 12-14 Dollars, depening on the country you live in, and other aspects.

But in essence, lets say roughly 20-30 bucks for Awakening is nothing, I'd easy pay 40 for it. To me, Awakening brought more fun and joy than disappointment and bugs. (Haven't encountered any bugs at all to be honest, none that ruined gameplay/quest/what I was doing at least.)

*edited in:*
As for the difficulty, yes, it was quite easy, but I made a challenge in doing it without a healer, just chugging potions (increase the difficulty level a little), also made the tactics for my companions, well, err, lets say they can be improved (but more fun this way!). So Nightmare mode, Anders going buffer (haste ftw), and dps, and only use potions. It's still a bit easy, but at the same time, offers a challenge.

BWAH AH AH AHHHHH! Yep this avatar was the ugliest I could muster. I had to go in and edit her since originally she was bald and I think people mistook her as a dude. Image IPB

Glad you all think she's ugly! Image IPB I actually played through DO:O & A with a human noble that is based off of Rutger Hauer circa 'Ladyhawk'. haha

Anyway, back on topic. I'd like to add a thought I had concerning the clickable thing and the not getting enough loyalty points for side missions problem with DO:A...... If DA2 insists on the clickable world aproach I think having multiple areas that trigger the same convo would be really helpful. It wasn't a huge deal in Awakenings since the map and areas were not huge, but if DA2 is as large as DA:O, it would be a real bummer to feel like you have to run around everywhere with different party combos in hopes of opening up side quests etc. And by 'bummer' I mean, A TOTAL DRAG. I *do* love DA's story but some of the game mechanics are wanting.

I was thinking if there were 2 or 3 places for each conversation then once you have one the other 2 become un-selectable. That would up everyone's chances of opening up all the little cool stuff convos can do and not break immersion because you're running all over a giant area for no other reason than finding the one special convo point.

Thoughts?

I agree with everything you have stated man and I also enjoy how this thread hasnt been trolled yet

One thing I would like to add Im kinda mixed b/w (with min spoiler) Im torn b/w the ending where you choose to save the city or the fort as I really think there should of been an option for both

let me explain

I choose to save the city as I thought it was the right thing to do but during the city fight I felt hafl way through once you rallied all the defenders that it would be a good time to head to the fort to assist it

what I didnt like was if your playing as a total good guy they make a very good argument of why we should head to the fort but you are forced to have only a terrible ending for the city

furthermore I was kinda disappointed that once you selected your party you were stuck with it for the entire end of the game as I wanted to switch it up at times and Im sure if you beaten the game you know what I mean with the ending being in more than one location I just feel that there was need to have an option to change party not end of the world just would of liked to bring different party members with me at different time based off there back story

Thoughts, well, where-as I would like several locations for conversation triggers, the only places that really should have it, should be 'safe spots' such as Camp/keep. Though, I really enjoy the fact in Awakening that, for
example, if you have Anders and click on a sttue (trying not to spoil too much), it triggers a conversation, which is fun, and that idea I do like. But I dislike the fact that it's only that way. -No need to re-write what I've said in so many posts above-

But as you said, it would be a total drag missing key conversation triggers due to how big the game is/future ones will be (hopefully). So, as David Gaider wrote himself, being able to pick up certain items from quests/side quests, then bring them to the camp/keep - Which in turn, you can click on them there in order to trigger the conversation/interaction(s).

First off, I'm immensly happy that it hasn't been trolled yet, and I hope it wont.
I do agree on the, well, without spoiling the results with the city/keep, save one. But on the other hand, I support what they did, either you act as a Grey Warden (commander if imported), or you act based solely on feelings at the present moment. Which offers chance to play as you as a person would do, and those actions, like all actions, have a consequence.

Selection of party members didn't bother me that much, I usually pick the 3 I want to use through-out the entire play, then I'll use different ones the next time around. Simple as that, for me at least.

Ahhh I didn't know David Gaider said that about bringing items back. There was some of that with gifts in both DA:O and A but to a greater amount would be awesome. I do like the clicking thing but giving the main character a shopping list to prompt us to revist areas is not the only way I want to play through DA2. Honestly, there's been a ton of great ideas and I hope for a mix of them! It would be fantastic.

The ones I've heard I've liked (not including the one I said above):

Camp dialog ala DA:O, clickable statues etc. ala DAO:A, round table discussions after a big mission ala ME2, clickable items to bring back to camp & cut scenes ala everything Bioware has done thus far as far as I can remeber.

Are there any other suggestions any of you have heard that are not in the above list? If they could have some of all the above I think DA2 would be pretty amazing.

Don't want to cause any kind of misunderstanding, so, here is what he said, quote on quote:

David Gaider wrote...
So maybe there's a keg in camp and you see that clicking on it means "have a drink with Oghren" or similar... maybe even new items appear, such as something taken from a quest and you can ask someone about it without needing to have them in your active party per se.

Which in my opinon, is an awesome idea, as long as Origins system isn't removed, but tweaked to perfection.
