Truth to be told, the Mass Effect relays are just so much "handwavium" anyway. The Mass Effect series does a good job at being internally consistent, but at the end of the day, magic gates that fling you halfway across the galaxy are...unlikely. But so are alien species that look like human women (with proportions like 21st century Hollywood actresses) and can breed with aliens.
Bottom line, if Bioware thinks having Reapers in the Andromeda galaxy would make for a good storyline, they'll be able to get there. If it won't add anything to the plot, they can't.

Who says the Reapers have the technology to travel to another galaxy? Who says there is life in other galaxies? Who says they haven't taken out other life in other galaxies? Who is to say that other galaxies are or are not hostile? Answer all these plus thousands of galaxy related questions and you will get your answer.

If you bothered to read my posts on the theories of the reapers, it's pretty obvious. Repears are not "dormant" when they are in darkspace-- they are going to other galaxies, but they need to set up warps to get between the galaxies. Then they can rapidly return when the time is right. Same reason they need to turn on the warp to get back into the milky way.
If they were just off in deepspace catching some ZzZZzzs, sovereign would have just put in a wakeup call.

Andromeda is NOT the closest galaxy, not even close. It's the closest SPIRAL galaxy. the closest galaxy doesnt even have aproper name. It's a bunch of dwarf stars about 50-60 thousand light years away... andromeda is like 3 million light years away...

Terminus surely refers to proximity to the milky way "spiral". If you are on the outer spiral you would be on the "terminal end" of the galaxy, hence terminus.
