When I first saw the cat, I thought it was the cat/desire demon from Honnleath.

The cat is straight out the Throne Room door across the courtyard through the gates (not the world map ones to the right, but straight ahead).

Minsc & Boo is Epic ! havent seen the like since XD

Quote: A den of stinking evil. Cover your nose Boo! We will leave no crevice untouched!
Quote: Boo must have his exercise, lest he bite us all in hard to reach places.
Quote: This behaviour must not continue. Feel the burning stare of my hamster and change your ways
Quote: Boo points, I punch. Is very simple relationship, but it is effective.
Quote: Boo knows! Do not stow thrones in grass houses!

In origins there already was "When all else fails, go for the eyes!" as 1 of loading screen tips. Clearly goes from "Go for the eyes, Boo, go for the eyes!"
"I need aid soon, lest my hamster become an orphan."
"Ahh... We are all heroes; you and Boo and I. Hamsters and rangers everywhere, rejoice!"

If you find the ferret (rat) in the Inn in Amaranthine and activate Sir Pounce Alot, you can attack it
Actually just getting close enough to the rat will aggro it.

Even if it wouldn't have those awesome powers, kitty would still have pulled its own weight by being adorable.

Agreed.
Besides, kitty is Ander's way to lure the women in. At least Oghren thinks so.
And nothing is funnier than hearing "Maker's breath, kitty! What have you been eating?"
I must admit though, I kind of wanted to give the cat to Nathaniel. Simply because of how out of character having him fawn over a kitten would be. Which would make it even more awesome.

So did I, until I noticed it was a gift anyway.

The cat has a practical use: if you activate it in combat, it revives your fallen party members
Ahh, the Spell of 9 Lives Revival. Thanks, here kitty kitty.....
I don't think you even have to activate it it...when fighting the dragon, Anders was the first to fall, and he was my only mage at the time. Then he suddely was revived.....this happened twice....

Near the end of the mines, Velanna died but Anders was still alive...Ser Pounce-a-Lot worked when I "used" him but didn't auto-activate. I'm guessing that was because Anders could have just done Revival himself if he'd popped some Lyrium.

When I had read the in-game description that it had a use, I didn't try it right away. When later there was something Wade could make that required as one of its ingredients "catgut" I thought, oh no, they didn't, and clicked on the cat...
