I thought the boss fights made up for it, it wasn't so hard that I was cussing and pissed off, but it also wasn't so easy that it was boring. I actually liked it. I like feeling like my character has gotten stronger and is more established, it felt satisfying to know that all that leveling up was worth it.

Also, my brother started a new file and played as the Orlesian Warden, and at level 18 he was getting murdered, so it might just be that when we level up our original characters too high in DA:O it makes Awakenings too easy for some people.

Yep, awakening is too easy and its not getting better when your tank is invulnerable with abilities like carapace and then spamming second wind afterwards.

It is WAY too easy. I started on Nightmare and during the entire playthrough, 2 of my party members died (Armored Ogre).

It is easy alright. Entertaining nonethless. And it is easy with all the classes. So I've begun to play it with a method "ooo fight! Go for the eyeeeees! no pausing and bam!". The only fight that requires more than that is really the fight against the Baroness. I find it strange that the last fight against Mother is more easier than fight against Broodmother in Origins.

I could try some mods really to increase the difficulty as someone suggested earlier. Potion cooldown mod is not however of any use to me as on my last playthrough I did not need health potions for Awakening on Nightmare. I always gather tons of them but never use them. Having a healer is plenty, but if id get the difficulty up first and then use more of them then absolutely the reduction mod.

I actually haven't finished it. It was too easy and too boring. Not at all balanced and the NPCs aren't very interesting either. Then there's the point of losing your gear. Going to install some mods and see if maybe that helps.

Golems isn't much better if you've already taken the character through Awakening. The damage is already done.

I always consider Awakening to be a victory lap. I understand that some people were hoping for more of a challenge, but for me it was just right. After playing through DA:O where I vanquished demons, broke curses, slew dragons, crowned two kings, and defeated the archdemon, I was the biggest badass in Thedas. Awakening just cemented the fact that anyone who went up against me was going down hard.

I guess that's why I never really had a problem with DA2 not being about the warden. They'd either have to nerf the warden down to level 1 or create enemies more powerful than the darkspawn which would (for me anyway) cheapen what I'd accomplished in DA:O.

Yeah, when I started it I was wondering why it seemed so easy and it turned the difficulty was default set to Easy. So I changed it to Hard, which is how I played Origins and had a good challenge and it didn't make a huge difference...trying Nightmare now but still not feeling stretched (I have a good, but hardly optimal build, and rarely try to max out equipment, e.g. I don't wear cowls and helmets because I don't like them).

It was fun, but yes, way to easy. And some of the other elements of the game made me highly upset. Like you cant even talk to your party at will! It has to be triggered. And the boss fights? Please! I was expecting more of a challenge. And it was waaay to easy to level up. One minute i was 25, and the next, i was 35! But, i mean, i still LOVED the game. Go DAO!

So I take it, if I buy it at some point, I will not need to use my imported character right? ;)

You can start off with an Orlesian warden if you don't want to import your Origins warden. Importing isn't required.

Is it just me.... or are you like an over power rampage machine in awakening. I'm playing on nightmare difficulty, but began at normal difficulty, and I NEVER control anyone but my own character. And no, hes not those rigged arcane warriors. He is a two-handed warrior, but with spirit warrior, the runes, increased level cap, respec books (got 130 base strength), I find that enemies die in a matter of seconds =/. Don't get me wrong, I love this expansion, but does anyone esle find that its TOO easy now?

correction your an overpowered rampage machine in origins in awakening your an over powered killing machine/terminator

Yeah I love this game, but it is too easy, I would love to bioware to release a patch to increase the dificulty level just as dragon age origins :(

Well, I'm not the best person to say since I got pretty good at this game, but yes, it is too easy, but I thought origins was too, on my latest origins playthrough, I played on nightmare with an ARCHER rogue, which are said to be the worst build in DA:O, I never control any other characters but my own main character (though that actually made me stronger, I got so good with the tactics screen that my party is better with it than with me controlling :P, I mean, by the end of the game my characters used even poisons and salves properly by themselves), and, even on nightmare, the game was so easy I beat almost every battle with only the rogue.

I'm not saying the game is easy overall, my first playthrough one normal was quite a challenge for me, but once I learned how to properly play the game, it got too easy.

Maybe what we need is a harder nightmare mode, but keep easy and normal as they are.

PS: The Harvester on nightmare for example is a pretty damn hard beast, if nightmare on DA2 is like that I'm going to be very happy.

Archers get way overpowered in Awakenings though.

There are at least three PC mods that will make everyone here wish for the "easy" version of awakening on the Dragon Age Nexus RaVAGE for Awakening is one such mod which randomizes the enemies (including extra guys like enemy Arcane Warriors with all the goodies that people like to use...) makes enemies smarter elite mages that can actually fight and use spell combos are nasty.

Just use the search function on the nexus...

I found it the game too easy as well. I started on normal, then changed to hard, and finally changed it to nightmare. I think the combination of build guides and Manual of Focus gives you the tools to build a powerful party, I'm playing a Rogue/Assassin/Shadow and I don't need a tank in party. I'm going to play nightmare with myself and 2 mages ( healer and nuker ) to see if it is more challenging that way.

I enjoy a easy and fun game from time to time  and with that said even with importing your warden from DA:O you can still have your head handed to you on a silver platter.

I didn't try the overpowered Archer tactic, but it was pretty easy up until the end because my party consisted of myself and Velanna as healer. Velanna keep running into the fight while I was trying to stay back and wear the brood mother down. I also only had 2 of 4 the turret thingies the let you cast area affect spells like fireball and stun .  I eventually killed her solo. I with that could have brought my warrior with me to the fight, Velanna's healing powers did not help since she died so quickly.

Good game though! I played the Golems and Witch Hunt DLC yesterday, and I'm playing DA2 now. Each adventure was fun in it's own way.

ikomrad,Velanna needs heavier armor then she comes equipped with and I tank her like I do Morrigan in DA:O simply because I protect my mages.

Some may not like Velanna but,she is a powerful mage.

I wish that I had done that. I kept her in skimpy robes because she looked like a Mage ( to me) that way. That worked fine until the Mother battle, and I did not have any armor in my inventory to give her.
