>>Going to get the mages for Redcliffe should have resulted in the village being destroyed.<<
Now, that would have been awesome. It would also give me reason to want to play out that scenario in one of my games, rather than ignoring the circle option every time.
>>"Well, what kind of arl am I if I just huddle up in my keep and let the citizens die ..."<<
My thought was "It is the duty of the Grey Wardens to defend the people against darkspawn. Even should every Warden in the keep die it will have been to save these lives - it will have been in doing their duty. And should it come to that ... I can rebuild the Wardens again."
Well, that was pyrrhic....

What upsets me is the Keep battle is SOOOOO much better.
Really? I liked the city battle better - it fealt like there was more to it. Sure you got special powers in the Keep battle, but aside from that it fealt boring ...

Yeah but I like the "CAN YOU FOOLS DO NOTHING!" line.
I think you get a better sense of scale as well.

True ... I'd say each had its pros and cons; which is a mark of a good scenario, when you can point at each option and call it good for different reasons. (still liked the city more)

I like the city because its the heroic thing to do. I feel like a royal ass just abandoning a civilian target to save a military one.

Yeah I was surprised, from a gameplay standpoint the Keep is better and you get more cutscenes. But saving Amarinthine is pretty much the right thing to do. I am conflicted because I saved the city first then did the Keep and the Keep was much more fulfilling from a gameplay perspective.

Me too. Especially since my PC knows that all eyes will be on how the wardens rule the Arling. Er, and she's queen.

I took what the guards were saying at face value, that the city was basically a corrupted mess and could be scratched as a total loss. So, yeah, it felt bad leaving a small handful of survivors to die, but I felt it more important to ensure that the only thing keeping the region under some semblance of order - Vigil's Keep - survived.

Also the relief your comrades have when you return because they feared you had failed or abandoned them? Makes things difficult on further playthroughs.
You can do the right thing, or do the wrong thing while still doing the right thing. I hate it

Oh, great. Now I feel even worse about the ending than I did before. That's just outstanding.....
Well, crap.
