Same here. Never had any problems before but in Awakening I've had ridiculous amount of crashes. A couple of seconds after a fight starts and CRASH! I had more than five crashes in one of the "big fights" near the end of the game. Auto saving worked, luckily, so I didn't have to start the battle from the beginning over and over again.
Anyway, everytime the game crashes it's always right after a battle has started.

I'm running this game in Win XP on a single core Pentium 3.6ghz CPU with 1.75gb of RAM and a GeForce 9600GT card and only had the one 'crash'' happen near the start of DOA just before attacking a group of darkspawn in Vigil Keep with Mhairi, when the game just exited to Windows with no messages whatsoever! Apart from that, it was very stable all the way to the end, though I did encounter a couple of in-game bugs, such as the infinite gold supply from the smuggler leader, selectable chests with nothing in them, and the endgame movie clip which repeated 3 times. I have some custom content installed but nothing that affects actual gameplay. Maybe check what custom created content you have installed and remove that?

Yes I'm getting them since installing Awakening w/ patch 1.03. Did not have slowdowns or crashes prior to this.

I played on Xbox 360 and never had any sort of bugs... so... the PC version's bugs could vary depending upon different capabilities/ cards/ what kind of set up you're running and such.

I just bought this game and can't even play it. I'm maybe 20 mins into the game and it freezes every single time.

gforce 8800 gtx by evga 768 gig (the vesrion of the driver is 178.13)

I don't think it has anything to do with performance. I have a Q6600 2.4 duo, 4gig, geforce 9600gt and vista. I turned it all the way down and it still freezes in the exact same spot...right before the joining cutscene.

I get a crash about every 2 hours of play time, it is preceeded by a serious loss of performance, i will drop from 60 fps to 10 and then i spend 2 minutes chugging through the save menu to restart and i am good for 2 hours or so. Somewhere i heard it is a memory leak but i jusr have learned to save often so i will grab a quick save just about after evry fight it does add a few seconds to the game time, but it saves having to redo a signifigant portion of the game.
Just for the record i am using a brand new box,
Intel I7 930
6gb ddr3 kingston hyper X ram
kingston 64gb SSD where win 7 is installed
WD 1tb sata 6.0 hard drive
Asus p6x 58d premium MB
on board sound and lan
i just purchased an Asus GTX 480 video card so it should be here next week sometime
my current video card is an 8800 gtx OC2 768mb
It has to be software as the hardware is the best quality stuff on the market i just really started having problems after 1.3 so i am really serious about a patch watch.

Quite a few, but I am uncertain if it is the game, or my new rig as I am Techless....

Awakening crashes constantly for me. I've been able to complete the game because the saving system seems very robust, at least. But the position of my left index finger has changed from the spacebar to the F5 key. I've noticed no performance glitches at all, though. Never. Vista64.

I crash every hour or so like clockwork but only with awakenings installed. It'st frustrating especially when I get going good and forget to quicksave as frequently as I should knowing the game will crash.

I had maybe 2 crashes all through Origins but with 1.03 and Awakening it happens frequently and perhaps the only common thing is that its usually during a battle and when I have just used an AOE spell. Last one was just as I was about to beat the Mother into oblivion.

I sympathise with those who have serious problems but I have never had any problems, with either Origins or Awakening.

I played through twice and had no crashes at all. Loaded Awakenings with 1.03 patch and played through that with no problems that spring to mind, but on third play through right from the start of Origins and had the occasional crash until I got to the Archdemon and it crashed time and time again, usually when it was down to about a third life. Finally got through it when I lost Alistair (again) and left the ballistas alone. Took longer than before, but got through it. Not sure whether I want to bother again as it got so annoying - although I am giving Awakenings another go!

Yes, i am.
I finished Dragon Age: Origins twice before installing Awakening, and i experienced only one crash. But, after i installed Awakening the game randomly crashes very often, just as you say. So often that it's annoying <_<

The game crashes randomly for me – both in combat and outside of it. I estimate roughly 2–3 crashes per a 2–5hrs gaming session. I tried running the game with only one processor core attached to it and crashes do not occur as frequently as they did before this change. Anyway, crashing seriously ruins my gaming experience and has become a real nuisance. This really needs to be fixed as top priority in the announced patch.

Crashed 2 times in ~21hours of game play which is negligible tbh.
