I'm not telling people not to get this dlc, it's just that I want a bit more from it.

Oh, and I felt the armor was pretty good stuff too. Not as nice as the Blood Dragon set, but doesn't require nearly as much str either.

I had quite a bit of trouble getting the keep to work at all and when i did i was somewhat impressed. Do not get me wrong i am a gamer and i always want more content lol, and i have paid a few bucks for less for example some specialized units for Empire Total War so all in all i can say that it was not the best money i ever spent but i am not mad either. It does provide a bit of back ground, i just wish i was able to get it earlier with this current character it would have provided a bit more immersion as opposed to when i finally got it to work which was most of the story done just have to finish dwarf and a few misc quests before i go to Redcliff and Landsmeet.
Asai
I guess that's part of it, I already did a playthrough so it wasn't so ground breaking.

Eh, the armor you obtain seems pretty good to me and the sword that can be made once you have the random encounter that acquires the rare star ore is pretty sweet. I've also used the one ability that allows me to regain mana for health quite a bit since I would prefer to use that over one of my potions if I can help it.
Not that I'm defending the dlc as a whole mind you. I personally think it was a bit overpriced considering what it provides. I just disagree that the items as a whole are worthless hehe.
The merchants have some decent items you can purchase as well once you've completed the keep.

What's annoying however is that your NPCs aren't transplanted to Warden's Keep, I don't think you can select different NPCs or cycle through all of them like you can at the Party Camp.

Oh well, it's only $7 + tax. I do like the storage space.

Is this normal, or did I miss something during the quest?

Interesting, is your MC a mage type? The abilities are different I guess for Warrior/Rogue, which makes sense I guess. I personally don't like the two Warrior abilities that much, someone mentioned a good use for it for Rogue although it seems a disingenuous that you can Stealth while gushing blood all over the place. The problem is it has a significant health drain aspect to it, on my char its 12 dmg per tick, which is 2x as much as the Reaver aura dmg. The other Warrior ability isn't great either, it has a knock back effect for 40HP and 37 stamina. Its decent, but its not a knockdown so not nearly as useful for the stamina cost, imo.Wickedjelly wrote...

Another nice bug about the keeps NPCs is they will auto-upgrade your weapon baseline stats, for a price. I'm sure its a bug, but its a magnanimous one they hopefully don't patch. Basically, if you have a lower tier weapon or item, you can sell it to the smith NPC. When you zone out, and come back, the game basically re-rolls the base Tier for the item, so if you had a Tier 5 weapon with great stats, you can "upgrade" it to a Tier 7 dmg with the same stats. The price will go up of course accordingly. You can do the same for armor, like the Warden Commander armor is Tier 6 default when I got it. I sold it to the NPC and it was "upgraded" to Tier 7 Dragonbone.

There's a bunch of scraps of paper you need to read, 4 I believe to get the full story. Run around with Tab (I remapped to my mouse thumb button post haste) and you shouldn't miss it, if you finished the boss encounter you will probably have to reload to a point prior to entering the tower.nunrg84 wrote...
I did the quest' but after all is "over", I still have the quest in the log, and it says to investigate more.

Yeah, my mc is a mage. It's too bad the 2 warrior abilities aren't really useful. The one I have isn't since it's just a dot effect but considering the damage I take as well I don't really see the point since I have other damage spells I can use that won't cause me any harm. I suppose I should test it one of these times to see if it might still be worth it if it's one of those crazy type dots that can burn an npc down so much it still might be worth using.
The other one causes quite a bit of damage to me but the mana regain is rather nice. Obviously I have to be careful when I use it because I wanted very well want to use the ability while I'm under direct attack but it's a nice little mana boost if I need it and don't want to waste a potion.
That's an interesting little bug you found there

I paid for the DLC yesterday and finished it before having to go to work. I like the armor but I think I may have overlooked the sword, and I also missed out on the final clue about the history of Warden's Keep so I still have it in my journal...can't go back in either, that is my only gripe about the DLC, not being able to go back in and talk to that mage and see the cleaned up look.

The ore for making the sword is found through a random encounter when you're travelling throughout the land so at some point you'll run into it. Once you get the ore you can go back to the keep and speak with the blacksmith there and he'll make you a nice weapon. So you should be able to still do that portion.

Ah sweet, great to know, that ability should work great with Wynne's passive heal AoE Aura, same for the DoT if you're not taking direct damage. I agree mana/stamina gain is just so underpowered and ambiguous. Bioware really leverages them to make combat more difficult, which is fine. My problem is that they're just horribly unbalanced so that on first playthrough its difficult to tell what's worthwhile and what's not.Wickedjelly wrote...

To make matters worst, many of these skills are T2-T4 so they take a considerable investment to work up that tree just to see if they're "worth it". So the options are to run around and save Talent points until you get 3-4 (very hard early on, easier to do later with mature builds) and then drop them in all at once, try them out, then reload if they turn out to suck.
Anyways, the one ability I think is a must-have is Death Syphon for mages. I got it late, but its probably the best mana regen/gain ability, especially for longer fights with high body counts. Don't bother with Mana Drain, its pretty useless from what I've seen on my mages. There's some other good ones out there like Rejuv/Mass Rejuv, especially since most mages will have points in those trees regardless.

i have the same problem - picked up the bits of paper, finished the mission, came back later to find the castle itself locked so I can't find any of this hidden stuff or see the mage guy again (if that's even possible, which I'm going to guess isn't).
