Update everything that might cause this problem.
Some of the usual suspects are in no particular order:
1. Windows updates
2. DirectX
3. Visual C++ runtime
4. Intel Chipset drivers
5. nVidia drivers
6. Audio drivers
7. Re-install ME2
8. Install ME2 patch
9. Conflict with Anti-Virus software
10. Conflict with something else

nVidia released a new GeForce video driver, 197.13 on March 17, 2010. Did you even know this existed? Much less installed it? You may trust the Dell support web site to NOT be up to date on 3rd party audio and video drivers.
If you are ABSOLUTELY certain that "everything" is up to date, then there is nothing that can be done to help you at this time. Since your computer is "perfect" all you can do is pray to the computer gods/daemons that Bioware accidently patches your problem sometime in the indeterminant future.

Asalis: your PC is very low performance on the main parts (Celeron single core CPU is below the minimum requirements, 9400GT GPU is the lowest in the minimum requirements list), best you can do after making sure all drivers are up to date is lowering the ingame graphics settings.and hope you'll get through.

And what does calling me a liar get you exactly? I know my computer specs are out of date and I have done what i could to fix the problem. The graphics are even at their lowest settings. I just posted this here to bring it to Bioware's attention, nothing more. I know this probably wont get patched and i'm currently saving up for a better computer. I also posted this to see if anyone else was having this same problem. I found a way around it but i have to work quickly to do it. It's annoying yes but it's not stopping me from playing the game. and i updated the nvidia drivers last friday when this glitch first appeared. seriously, thats the best response you could come up with?Doofus42 wrote...

There is not enough information to really tell you anything other than the blatantly obvious that you have a problem somewhere in your system that is causing an issue.

this is something that happens to a lot of computers. i have talked to people that have some really fast computers and theyve run into this issue, its a bug in the game, and hopefully bioware will take this issue into attention.

Though I find two times in about ten to twelve playthroughs (what, I played through ME1 far more often) a minor Issue... okay, some people get this more often, and it is understandably a major issue then.
My specs for comparison (completely self-built, working with computers for almost 16 years)
AMD Phenom X4 9550 (4x2.2 GHz)
4GB Kingston DDR2-RAM (1066 Mhz)
ATI RadeonHD 4850 GPU (512 MB GDDR3-RAM)

Edit: Maybe you can find a solution here. Beware of minor spoilers. Avoid them by skipping the first box in the comment: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/1605123
It seems this only happens with entry level cards like the 8500 GT, 9400 GT and 8400 GS. I'm surprised the latter even allowed the player to reach the praetorian.

If I remember correctly, ATI does the graphics for the 360, while nVidia did the graphics for the first Xbox. This would sort of explain why ATI seems to have less issues with this game.
