At the very least, you'll be able to impress the palace staff with how much more awesome you are than Anora.
Hahaha...that cracked me up

The writers must be up to something. Why would a Queen leave the court and disappear? It's understandable for Anora's "prince consort" to an extent, but a F-HM to do just that is, well, shocking.
WTF is up with that?

To put her in the same position as all the other possible PC's, I imagine. It's a way of leveling the playing field/bridging the gap between one adventure and the next without having to waste valuable game time to do it.

In which case, the mistresses should have it the worst and Cousland's married to Anora should have it better (they don't).
I still think it's either an error or just half-hearted programming/writing. If the disappearance card was even remotely different from the default romanceless card, I'd be more worried about it. The King or Queen should be notably concerned that their spouse has disappeared. As it is, I'm going assume that those epilogues are just to position everyone in the same place for whatever comes next and will have little to no bearing on circumstance.

I agree it would level the playing field, but it doesn't explain why King Alistair disappears with his mistress. I'm cool with the disappearing as queen. It's King Alistair disappearing along with some PCs that has me confused and worried.

This is where I think the half-hearted programming comes in. It's incredibly vague because it's the card for those who didn't have an LI in Origins. Kings and Queens get the same set of cards- Kings wouldn't get a special card saying they disappeared with Anora (why would she go anywhere?) so I imagine that they didn't bother to do one for Queens, even though Alistair would be likely to go where she went, because that would be yet another epilogue card for just one specific type of character.
I think what matters is that the game recognizes that the PC is, in fact, married to/in a relationship with Alistair.

Oops, I forgot about King Alistair disappearing with his mistress....there goes my theory. OH! Maybe it has something to so with keeping Anora alive? All you queens out there...did you keep her alive?

You have no option to kill her in Origins (she's just locked up) so that's not a variable.

RODE through the gates? What the hell, Bioware?! You make me walk across a goddamn country for a year and then again in Amaranthine and I finally get a horse when I go home? *rages*

LOL I noticed this, too. Fereldans seem more familiar with dragons than they do with horses.LadyDamodred wrote...

I do imagine that the atmosphere is much different with the new ruling pair than with the last. It's part of the advantage of not having been bred to the job- you don't need to do everything the expected way.
I imagine my PC trying to cheer Alistair up by telling him that despite all the burden and drudgery, they'll still make it a home (which is A's big thing and which my Cousland girl must miss a lot) and, to borrow a phrase from Zevran, "it'll be fun- we'll make it fun."
Of course, sometimes I'm struck by how young my PC and Alistair are anyway. Maybe because I'm in my 30s myself this impresses me.But I imagine them sometimes locking their door and (besides the usual, ahem, recreation), just jamming out to the Ferelden equivalent of something like this. The servants' gossip be damned.

Given that the staff starts complainig about how demanding Anora is practically the second she steps foot on the premise, it shouldn't be too hard.At the very least, you'll be able to impress the palace staff with how much more awesome you are than Anora.
Maybe at some point you just encounter too many dragons to be bothered slaying the one right in front of you so you let Oghren try out his new chariot idea and before you know it you've finally got convenient transportation.LOL I noticed this, too. Fereldans seem more familiar with dragons than they do with horses.

Ha! Indeed. I always see that ending slide for Alistair and think "as long as he takes me with him sometimes"... what do they think the Warden Queen is doing, sitting in the palace stitching embroidery?SurelyForth wrote...

I'm sort of regretting hardening Al on this latest character of mine. I'm not looking forward to having to disappear for at least a while while my husband stays behind.
I better have some really good excuse to go off on my own. Like maybe to retrieve my damn dog from it's kidnappers?

She would then hang it in the nursery (if a nursery is needed), so her child will grow up right.
Also, she's drunk.
