It's far too early for the Warden to be going on her Calling.

That's in decades, and Alistair's Calling would be at about the same time as yours. And I doubt that the Hero of Ferelden would be able to quietly slip into the Deep Roads without someone knowing.

They didn't ever give a time line for how long it takes for the taint to take over if I remember correctly and surely it wouldn't be the same from person to person. And the epilogue in awakening doesn't say when you leave...it could be a decade or so in the future.
They did, actually. Alistair tells you it will be thirty years, give or take.

I got those epilogue slides, however, and did not have those discussions with Anders. I did have a discussion with him where he asked what I would do if I wasn't a Grey Warden. There was no option to respond "I've got this little queen gig...", so I said something about not being able to outrun the taint. That was the only discussion like that I had with Anders. I doubt he is the trigger.rak72 wrote...
There are 2 conversations with Anders that I suspect influence the ending. When he asks me what I i'll do when its over, I told him, "Return to court, of course". Then later in front of the Lyrium basket he asks what GW's do when its all over. You can say something like "whatever you want", "party", or "remain vigilent". I chose "vigilent"

They leave a lot unsaid, actually. It doesn't say that Alistair doesn't know where you go, it's just not generally known.errant_knight wrote...
Well, if it is a nod to DA2, leaving must have been involuntary. There's not a chance that most of our Cousland female PCs would leave without telling Alistair, if they had a choice--or that he wouldn't go after her no matter what.
Wait, what? When Alistair isn't king, he disappears, too? What does that mean?

Um, expansion pack alert anyone? Or even possibly sequel alert?
Morrigan probably dropped the Warden a line. "Hey, wanna come to Orlais and stop my demon baby from destroying the world?"
Ahaha, I LIKE that theory!

I meant that if, as some are saying, that's a lead-in to an expansion/game/DLC, then the plot line is different if you are queen or lover, even though Alistair is alive in both cases. That seems unlikely, and so makes me wonder if that is really something that's ever going to be addressed, or will just slip into lore (which was my first thought). That's happened before with other Bioware games, so it's not impossible. I hope that it's part of a new story and will be resolved, but....

2. Says they don't think it's the last of you, so I doubt it's the Calling.
I also believe that it'd be hard to follow up on our Origins character without disregarding the Epilogue, since we only seem to disappear if one romances Alistair; that and we can either disappear alone or WITH Alistair -> too much to articulate.

I believe the slide also says 'several years later'. That to me says we're not looking at the Calling.

On the disappearing thing that I also got, your king Alistair's right hand woman/secret weapon so of course you disappear every now and then, you're on a confidential mission for him.
One where he would go along with if you were his mistress and not his wife? That doesn't add up too well.

Alistair says, "Frack this King ****, I never wanted to do it anyway."
He can do that if you're his mistress, since presumably he'll be married to Anora in that case and he can easily leave things in her hands. However, if you're teh Queen, then if you both leave there's nobody left from the Royal House of Therin, so he's compelled to stay by his sense of duty.
Bit rough but that's the best I can come up with.

Maybe Alistair and Lady Cousland probably just felt like taking a vacation together after all the darkspawn nonsense.
Or maybe it was their calling -- I wouldn't be surprised. There isn't a time limit on the epilogue of how many years have passed on. I got one slide that told of a knight named Alec and somewhere in there with a "thousand years" and so on.

Did anyone actually have Alistair marry Anora? I let him rule alone and keep me as his lover for my default playthrough. Hm... now I really have to play my Queen/HNF to see this epilogue. :|

Heh, good try, but many who don't marry him while in a relationship also don't marry him to Anora for, oh, so many reasons. All of them about Anora.

I finished my first playthrough as King Alistair's lover and got the same thing; however, a lot more other things regarding Alistair and his lover as well. Now I'm interested in my Queen's turnout for her epilogue.

The epilogue says that you, or the two of you, disappear a couple of years after you return from Amaranthine. That's decades too early for the blight to be getting to you.

My Dalish elf did, keeping herself as his mistress. There are good reasons for and against it. If he has to be in a political marriage, at least Anora knows the drill, and keeping her on as queen heals the civil war in a way that locking her in the tower wouldn't.7th_Phoenix wrote...

You don't have to worry about it being the taint. That's pretty much impossible, it wouldn't be secret, and Alistair would go too. Not only would they both start showing symtoms at about the same time, but he's that kind of guy. He's not going to let the woman he loves die alone in the deep roads. He'd go with her so they could die together.
Dang. I just made myself tear up....

I agree entirely that it's impossible to be the taint - but I'm worried as heck about whether or not my Warden ever goes back to his loving arms
