Hi. I have been romancing Leliana, getting to the point where the pc gets a kiss and then there is an hint of sex, although if I remember correctly it's just hinted so I'm not even sure it's the supposed sex scene.

Anyway, I've now discovered that I have been missing Leliana's personal quest and the chance to harden her.

Her approval is at 100%...

I was wondering, is there something I can do to get that damn quest now and succeed in hardening her? 

Even a mod would be fine...

I'm not sure what you can do, but I do know that the game is bugged so that if you get Leliana's approval too high too quickly, then you don't get the personal quest. Then, without the quest, there is no romance. I'll try to find a mod.

and I've lowered her approval to 55 with the console, but the only dialogue options I get are still the "tell me minstrel stories" stuff and "you should leave", nothing else...

I think I've managed to trigger the quest through console, with the zz_ran_debug command. I've chosen Leliana's Assassins.



Now, the possibility to "harden" her comes only after the quest is done, right?

Right.  You need to use something like, "You're a bard--a spy," "Don't punish yourself for doing something you like," and "You were never meant for a cloister" options.  That's not exactly the order or the quotes, but that's the gist of them.

I did get the option *Bards are spies* on my first playthrough with Leliana but now i can't.
Are there other factors that will/won't trigger it?
Does Coercion have to be at improved> Does approval have to be at around 28?
What dialogue options prior to that actually get that Bards are spies option?
Help , help , help me Rhonda. get me out of this mess

I know this topic is 4 months old but I'm currently trying to romance her as well and does she have to be hardened for it to go through (pardon the pun) or can you still romance her whether she is hardened or not?

You can start the romance before getting her quest. You can't, however, go to bed with her until it's resolved one way or another.

If her approval is too high and you've not received her personal quest, the only way to lower her approval is to break up with her (if she's in a romance with your PC). Then, you'll get the "bard are spies" dialogue but you'll get the option to start her personal quest which will lead to getting her hardened.

I beat the assassins and told her we would go to denerim and her approval is 49 so am I on the right track so far?

Yes, that is the correct route to get to Marjolaine and complete her personal quest. After you've dealt with Marjolaine, Leliana will talk to you in camp about the experience afterwards. If you tell her that she's a bard and always meant to be, this will harden her.

I know she's just CGI, with a voice actress who doesn't even look like her, and dammit I have a RL girlfriend, but every time she says "Heyyy..." when you click on her I have to pause the game and run to the loo. I made sure I didn't talk to her at all after marrying Anora just so she wouldn't dump me and I'd get the "love" speech at the city gates

Whilst we're on that, does anyone know if Leliana dumps your male human noble if you marry Anora and she IS hardened? The wiki says she can be convinced to stay on as your mistress, but she dumps me every single time even though I got the foursome with Isabella (proof of hardening)...

It may be dependent on your coercion skill...not sure. I was able to convince her to stay with me despite marrying Anora on my human noble

I've had her stay on as mistress. I've played through 4 times now and have chosen her on all but one run. I wish I remembered the dialogue you need to take but I remember it being pretty straightforward. There's a "persuade" choice - my human noble was a rogue with like 110 cunning so she didn't have a chance

I have had the spontaneous discussions about hair and stars, but I have not gotten her quest, and I have no more dialogue options with her. Approval is around +60/"Care". Is there a way to resurrect the conversation tree leading to the Bard discussion?

No . . . once you pass up the "Bard as spies" convo option, it's gone unless you lower her approval.  And the only way I know to do that is to break up with her.  But once you break up with her, there's no way to reacquire her as Love. 

  I have an idea.  I'll try lowering her approval by doing a prank on her (ie Feastday prank) to lower her approval without breaking up with her.  Perhaps this will open up the "Bard as spies" option and then I can trigger her personal quest.  After that is done, I can give her the "gift" to raise her approval to Love.  I'll have to give this a try.  This approach might also work for Oghren in Awakening to trigger his personal quest.

The problem is that, despite getting her approval, I missed the question about minstrels being spies while exhausting all of her convo options, so now when I talk to her, my only option is "Never mind."

Are you saying that by lowering her approval I will once again have additional conversation options? (As for "breaking up", my only option at the moment is to kick her out of the camp.)

I've even confirmed that I had the option to ask about minstrels by loading an old save. It's not the least bit clear when looking at the dialogue available that it's critically different from the other options, not without reading a lot of spoilers. I don't want to scrap 20+ hrs of gameplay to go back to that, though.

Is the romance any different if you start it once you've hardened her? I noticed her reaction at the Urn of Sacred Ashes was different, and at the epilogue as well. Any other changes?

I'm afrail you're SOL.  If you didn't romance her, you can't dump her as a romance option and lower her approval. 

I've discovered that you can use the Feastday Pranks/Gifts to lower her approval and it does give you the "bards as spies" dialogue - lowered it to around 50 - where that particular part of dialogue becomes available.  However, it seems that if you inadvertently go over 50, you'll never see that dialogue.

In case it wasn't clear, I had an active romance (approval flag was "Care" rather than "Warm"), but was unable to get the hardening quest because I had missed the dialogue options related to that. I had nothing to say to her except "Nothing. Never mind".



However, upon hitting the next approval threshold, her dialogue options changed. Relationship related questions appeared ("About us...") as well as the question about why she was with the Chantry. But then it treated the questions as it would if your approval is too low, i.e., she would not answer any further question about her past. Lowering her approval to 70 via console allowed the question about bards being spies.

I just got her quest after the epilogue, but I can't go back to Denerim. Is there a way to fix this? Some mod that activates Denerim after epilogue? Plz help.
