Hey All,
So the title of this post is somewhat misleading in that I do not feel ME2 is lacking at all in terms of variability of classes or that classes should be added, but I was curious to think what this community thought about what I percieved to be a few potential classes.
First off, we have the infiltrator, a long-range, tech-oriented class. Secondly, we have a close range biotic-based class in the vanguard. Understanding that those two classes would be reduntant in ME2, what would a close range tech guy be like? What would a long range biotic be like? Would new class skills could they have? What would their names be?
Any thoughts appreciated!

You could argue that an engineer is a close range techie, all his cc give him alot of freedom of movement, especially drone, letting him get close relatively safely. I know I've seen plenty of engi videos where they are melee happy.
Also, surely the adept is a long range biotic, he really doesn't want to be getting close to anything.
Edit: Sentinel can be both even! Assault sent using tech armour explosion+shotgun offensively, while caster sent sits back using warp combined with a (bonus) slam to make boomboom.

You would have to have another entirely different type of class for more classes.
Adept, Soldier, and Engineer are all the basic class that specialize in just one thing.
Vanguard, Sentinel, and Infiltrator are all combinations of two of the classes with less power from each.

If you want a close range Infiltrator, simply take Shotgun training. The Cloak lets you get close enough for Shotgun use.
For a long range Vanguard, you might be better off using an Adept with Sniper Rifle training, emphasise Pull and Warp, and maybe take Warp Ammo.

I am not specifically talking about playing that way. I was hoping this would be a discussion on new class skills for an up close techie and a long range biotic.

Would an Infiltrator with Reave bonus talent be classes as a hybrid of all 3?
