Why is it that after Shepard saved Horizon and infiltrated the Collector Base nobody knows about it?

Why would they know?

He only had two witnesses (not counting the stasis of course) at Horizon, no one at the collector base...

...everyone on Horizon is either dead or does not know what exactly happened (and considering how secretive Cerberus is, might make sense)

and infiltrated the Collector Base nobody knows about it?

It's the end of the game, plus how would anyone know about a secret mission that was finished in the center of the galaxy that can only be traveled through a relay that has killed every non-collector ship?

Alliance leadership would prefer Horizon be kept a secret. Too many people will panic if they found out Collectors have been attacking human colonies.

Collector base is on the other side of the Omega-4 relay. Most people don't know what's beyond.

Although if you listen to the galatic news, there will be a reference made to the Omega-4 relay going active recently, but nobody knows why.

I'm pretty sure you'll tell the Council all about it in ME3, and guess what, they won't believe you.

One of these days Shepard needs to attach a video camera to his helmet or something. I mean, really. You'd think he'd pick up on this after the first time the council don't believe him. Two games in and he's still asking people to take him on his word. Hilariously enough people are still refusing.

What would you like Shepard to record?

That Sovereign is an AI? During the conversation on Virmire, there's no evidence that it isn't just a VI.
That the geth believe the Reapers are gods? Their belief doesn't make it so.

Even the vision doesn't prove anything--it's just a message left by the protheans, devoid of context. There's no actual proof that any of Shepard's claims about the Reapers are true.
