I got to thinking, with Mass Effect 2's combat system wouldn't it be pretty sweet to fight your friends on specified levels with the level of upgrades and amount of squad members arranged by the host?
No real plot behind it or anything, just good old fashioned Death Match/Capture the Flag/King of the Hill/Survival type modes.
And with utilizing what would presumably already be in the game these features would take nothing to implement.
Hell, even as DLC it wouldn't be half bad although that means BioWare couldn't just go "lol cryo ammo=gg" for obvious balance reasons.
Mass Effect 3 LAN Multiplayer?

I think that multi-player development consumes time and resources that would be better spent on the single player experience.

Yeah, combative multiplayer would be problematic, would be much easier just to add co-op
Also the classes would be neutered (no slow down for Soldier/infiltrator/vanguard) etc

Yeah, co-op would be a much better implementation.

I don't think you realize how little it would take to make this idea work. Most of the content is already in the game. All that is needed is to connect all the needed pieces with some code.

I am not convinced. Even if it is simple it still requires design, level building, user interface changes, debugging, profiling, play testing, etc. Also, I can't think of a BioWare game that has done it recently. Of course there is a first time for everything, but I think it is not worth the trial and error with just one chapter to go in the trilogy. It is first and foremost a single player game. Any development time and resources going to multi-player will be a loss for a game not designed as MP. There aren't many great co-op games, unless they were developed as MP from the get go. And even those are hard to find.D.I.Y_Death wrote...

Because Mass Effect really needs multi-player, since it's not nearly close enough to really becoming GoW in space with RPG elements.

What was it dev said? Everytime someone says something like this a cat is punted out a window.
MP games are everywhere, we don't need another one, especially when it will take resources away from the good stuff.

I don't think you realize how little you know about game development
