maybe the brother of the batarian that was in garrus' squad, he could be all like "I want to avenge my brother by working with you" or something

Batarian Squad Mate = Win

The BDtS tie-in could be killer as well.

Nah, a Batarian would lose a popularity contest against Jacob!

Yes and he should be a good Batarian. It seems like those are very hard to come around in Mass Effect.

the thing that puts us at odds with them the most is that both they and humans are relatively new in the galactic community .

I feel the need to correct this...
• 200 BC -  Batarians post an embassy, a century or more after first contact.
• 2165 AD - Humans granted an embassy, 12 years after first contact.
• 2171 Batarians close relations from the Citadel.
~ Batarian length of time as part of the galactic community: 2371 years.
~ Humanity's length of time as part of the galactic community: 6 years.

200 BC?! what was humanity doing during that time...

This.

They sure as hell were not forming intergalactic treaties however...

I want one partly because I actually like batarians, but secondly because it would be absolutely hilarious to see the OUTRAGE from the people who don't want one.

But yeah, a batarian isn't too illogical, I mean, look at the Krogan. They're just as invariably violent as the batarians are jerks, and we've had two squadmates that are krogan.

We actually know very little about batarian space itself, though we do know that its oppressive. Who's to say that there aren't batarian resistance groups acting inside it, as they do have a slave caste, and it can't be completely made of non-batarians.

I still wish batarians looked like this though:

If they do decide to make Batarian squad member, they should give us an option to have him wear helmet all the time.

Or something to cover their teeth at least.  They creep me out.

Some already said: we only met a few Batarians, mercenarys and slave hunters. There are humans being pirates, mercenarys, terrorists, gangstas ( in ME-Universe I mean). Would you want to blow them all of because of that? No, because there are many not criminal humans. It's pssilble that it's the same with batarians, isn't it? Secondly it isn't nice or anything to hunt slaves, but it's a part of theri culture & in how many culures on earth do you find slavery when you look at history, huh? Thirdly not all batarians are ugly.

I'd really like to get to know batarins better, e.g. by a batarian squadmate. I can't decide whether I'd like a grumbling, grimly, always being in a bad temper or a rather nice, communicative one... both would be appealing. :D

We get an awesome turian squadmate. Idk,t he humans seem to have two races they have had trouble with. Turians and Batarians. We have Garrus as squad member, now we need a Batarian one. That would be awesome!

I think that a batarian squad mate would be cool. It would be good to finally meet a batarian that is not just a buffoon or thug or to find out that being a thug or buffoon is just the best that they can be. Who knows maybe a paragon Shepard could even prepare a batarian under his influence to a true leadership position and elevate all of batarian culture.

eversince I completed ME2 ive been 90% sure that ME3 will have a Batarian squad mate, I also would like to see a new alien added to crew might aswell be the batarian kind, Im getting abit bored to Krogan,Turian & Asari squadmate thing, adding Mordin in ME2 was very good choice

I wouldn't be surprised to get one. The only other viable race would be a vorcha but I seriously doubt we would get a vorcha on the crew.

-Let's just face facts, batarians are the most awesome looking aliens in the entire game.

No, Batarians are ugly and not awesome looking. If you want awesome looking, those are the turians.

Seriously...how awesome would this be?

No? All the batarians you meet in Mass Effect are either criminals, mercenaries, slavers, and most of them hate humans. That's not awesome, that's annoying.

Couldn't of said it better myself.

Besides, we should keep some enemies to fight. :P
