I agree.
But I want to smash this batarian rebellion he mentioned just before he meet the end of my gun.

We have never had a world government, Homey, neither have all instances of slavery been integral to the corresponding culture. The Batarian government however is, referred to as "the" Batarian government, implying that the Batarians have world government. There have been plenty of cultures that did not develop slavery or have it in any significant way.

So would you kill a batarian child in cold blood? Did that batarian choose to be born as a batarian? And do you really think the police state government the batarians have will allow people to express opinions that clash with that of the state? Its like saying all germans during Hitler's reign were evil scum that deserved to die because their government does immoral things.

SkilledSeeker, You took my thoughts and posted them.
Anyway, Batarians are oppressed (Racial profiling) for doing... nothing. You're born as one.

To all people who are saying that they would kill a four-eyes on sight, You're no better than them. Do you think you're doing the galaxy any good by killing an innocent civilian/soldier? In my opinion, Humans aren't any better than krogan or batarians. Neither are turians or asari.

No, I don't.

I don't think I could take all the threads asking why we can/can't have sex with him/her. <_<

Only if they bring a bottle of batarian ale to put more stuff in the.... thing more stuff goes in.  :P

Really I'd sooner see the current squad members storylines develop further rather than new members who'd need to be explained at length given the history between the races.
Having another game like 2 where the main plot is recruiting a squad for a mission, didn't give enough time for the new members imo.  One mission to recruit and a loyalty one didn't seem deep enough to me.

Would rather see the time given to providing conclusions for things like Thane's illness and more of the Geth / Quarian (Legion and Tali) storylines. Adding new members who wouldn't really have time in the last part of the trilogy (where everything else will have to be resolved)  to have their character develop much would just leave you wanting more story for them - like Legion in 2.

Bioware will probably need to introduce new party members, if only for people who manage to get their entire party killed, whether out of sheer incompetence, spite or simply for the lulz. I hope it won't be a Batarian though. They give me the shudders. Brrrrrrrrrr!

I wouldn't mind having one. Maybe a female Han Solo Bartarian.

My Shepard hates batarian guts, ever since he fought them on Torfan, and executed their non-combatants there. He hates them even more ever since they killed human hostages on X-57, and hopes Balak crippled by that shot in the knee cap is still alive in the dirtiest, coldest and dampest stinking sh*thole of the Terra Nova prison.

But I think it'd be a hell of a thing, if in ME3 Shepard was required to recruit a Batarian squadmate.

A former Special Intervention Unit trooper, sold to slavery, then escaped. This Batarian squadmate could help to find and uncover the secrets of the Leviathan of Dis, that (as everybody surely remember) is held by the Batarians and used as a source for advanced tech research to mount that Batarian rebellion Balak was talking about. Thus Shepard could gain another critical piece of the puzzle against the Reapers and foil the Batarians' nasty plans at the same time.

I'd take a completely new alien squad member over a Batarian.

Or, at the very least, Elcor and Hanar party members.

hmmm the normandy could always do with an upgrade of a shooting range for ME3 and a batarian would fit there nicely

I'd rather have a crew mostly comprising ME1 and ME2 people, but I wouldn't be opposed to a batarian squad member. But I would hate it if he was just a "good guy" batarian who wasn't a mercenary. Drizzt Do'Urden in space sounds pretty damn awful to me. I'd prefer if he was more of a ruthless bastard instead.

He'd probably end up as a one-sided "badass" character with zero depth if they went that route, though.

Anyway, judging an entire species off one piece of DLC and the words of Zaeed, who was willing to sacrifice dozens of innocents for his petty feud, is poor. That batarian on omega seemed nice to me. Sure, he pointed a pistol to you when he's dying, but every species was pretty much trying to kill the humans, and people don't hate on them because of it. If you talk to the batarian after clearing the fans at the clinic, he says he wont make the mistake of judging again.
Rememver the Batarian government is in ways similar to the **** regime-they don't let in outside media. Most batarians aren't crazed terrorists, their just scared. That's like hating Islam because a tiny percentage are extremists, which happens in religons such as christianity anyway.

You humans are all goddamn racists. Anyway if your quoting a ruthless ***hole who planned to sacrifice innocent lives during a mission, then that's weak. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of veiled batarians trying to pass on as humans when travelling to escape prejudice.
Would you choose to be a race to lead a miserable lifestyle that would eventually lead to depression and then a bullet to the brain?
Many batarians are held back from many oppurtunities because of the actions of their gov't, terrorists, and criminals.

I've always compared batarians to oppressed muslims.

I would like this...if your Shepard has the colonist background it would add some hostility from Shepard due to the Batarians killing your whole family.

all the batarians encountered in ME2 are pirates or criminals. The real batarian civilians are not allowed to leave their systems.

Be cool if we could look it from their perspective

To sum it all up. I would want a batarian squadmate but not a ruthless, stereotype-fueling bastard nor a goody-two shoes P***y. I want one with morals like Garrus where the lines between good and evil are blurry.

He would be this blue suns soldier promoted to a blue suns agent (Like a splinter cell) who is the toughest nail in the box from gunfights and tortuous interrogations. And then he would be captured by slavers who know about his violent history, put a price on him and makes a deal with cerberus.

There you go, But I don't want a non-conversation wheel character like Kasumi or Zaeed. it's very annoying.

Why would Zaeed be "friends" with Tarak though? doesn't make any sense.
