Since most of the talent information is known for some days now and I'm still thinking about playing a warrior first, I'm interested if you already planned your warrior build a bit. It's a long time since I played Sword&Board (since NWN1 I think), going to focus on that this time. And you?
If you're interested to discuss, I'd like to hear more than specializations and weapon style. Especially weapon style branches, key talents, and attributes would be nice. I like how DW and 2H focus on different things - a choice to make here.
My setup includes 7 points in shields, Wall+Expertise for immunity, Block against rogues. A few points in 2H for crowd control (I hope that works), up to Taunt and Bravery for tanking. I plan to use the talents from Champion and Templar as well. Let's see how the specialization quests turn out, though. As for attributes, that will be tough I think. I'd like to have cunning for Coercion and willpower for stamina but I expect most points are needed for Str, Con, and Dex. Ugh.
So, enough from my side. Your thoughts?
Any thoughts about how to build your warrior?

I plan on making my warrior use a sword and shield, but offensively, using the shields for stuns and bashes and whatnot.
That, or possibly having him Dual Wield. I always thought that'd be a fun way to play it, but since my rogue will likely do that I probably won't do it on my warrior as well.

An offensive warrior can be quite easy to build(2H especially): all you need to focus on are Str and Willpower for a storm of damage.
A defensive sword/shield warrior should of course focus on Con, but Str and Willpower are also useful for threat generation, though not as important as Con. Dex may also be useful too, depending on just how much Dex contributes to chances of dodging an attack.
An offensive sword/shield warrior will want to focus primarily on Willpower, then Str. From what I understand sword/shield combo offers a lot of crowd control abilities such as stuns. Having a large stamina pool will always help out with CC.
A DW warrior is probably the most tricky warrior to make. Dex will be necessary for reaching higher level DW talents, Str will also be necessary for hit rating and contributes damage to non-dagger melee weapons(never liked the thought of dagger warriors); willpower will also be useful for ability usage. It's hard to say just what should be focused most on before the game actually releases.

actually, I only plan this while I play the game
I am probably wrong, as somewhere near the end I always regret about something I did, but I don't put much effort in it.
I will use sword and shield on my first playthrough, that's all I know, atm

everything forward, full damage ahead, no thinking about protection of one self....
just a BIG two-hander and swinging it wildly.....
oh...and don´t take this the wrong way, im still talking about a warrior-style, nothing else

GhoXen, I agree with you on the offensive variants. As for the defensive warrior, I expect Str to be important for massive armor, more than I would put points in for talent requirements I guess.
Linarc, that's of course a reasonable approach. Some people are better at improvising, some at planning.

Going with a Human Noble for the first play through.
Going to go with two-handers, but not a berserk fury, a calm and relentless killing machine, slowly working forward and hewing all who stand in opposition, claiming their souls as he battles the blight.
Nothing says get outa my way like the long sweeping blow of a massive axe.

My first playthrough as a Human noble Warrior will likely see Ronan wielding a two-handed sword and specializing exclusively in two-handed sword talents depending on how the weapon switching works. I will likely focus on Strength, but I think I'd prefer Constitution as my second, and then Willpower. I always liked the thought of a naturally resilient/sturdy character. Plus he lacks the defense of that shield but he needs to be there on the frontlines. As for specialization, definitely Champion. It fits his character and his position as a leader. Possibly Berserker as a second. Maybe Templar, though I'll have Alistair for that and I wouldn't like to double-up.

Im probably gonna make many different types of warriors.
and mages and a bit less for rogues as they dont seem to have much variety.

My human noble is going sword & board (although I'll swap the sword for an axe if possible). I would go for a 2-hander but until I can download a mod that'll make the weapons a bit smaller I'm choosing weapons my character could realistically lift.

I found that my elf who uses 2-h with the champ spec is pretty good. I have good health for his level and almost never dies. Uses Heavy Chain Mail armor ATM.

My only full playthough warrior so far was my first character, a stuntie, loading up his pre-game/post-game save just now I can tell you how he turned out.
He felt good too me as the tank I was going for but I probably did something stupid with his attributes as I was a little rammy-stammy on him being my first character.
Lvl: 24
Attributes:
Strength = (64+6) 70
Dexterity = (30+5) 35
Willpower = (24+9) 33
Magic = (14+4) 18
Cunning = (20+2) 22
Constitution (30+12) 42
Skills:
Combat Training IV
Coercion IV
Stealing II
I didn't actually bother with anything else after these planned to take the "wait and see approach" then the game ended.
Talents:
Warrior = Both Rows all 8
S/S = Three Rows all 12
Templar (lvl 7) = All 4
Champion (lvl 14) = All 4
Archery = "Melee Archer", "Pinning Shot", "Cripling Shot", "Critical Shot", "Arrow of Slaying".
Note, I bought and used several "Talent" books so I was more or less permanently skint between those and backpacks so it was a bit of a waste in the end, as I had 5 points I wasted on archery I never needed that could have probably been used on party members to round them out more efficiently.
Now I'm more familiar with the game I would probably do a few things differently but with that said, Calum Aeducan above worked and worked pretty well for me as both a meat shield and decent front line enforcer, all that said it was only on a hard play-through I expect it would be quite a different story on nightmare.

I'm making a 2-h axe wielding noble dwarf warrior reaver.
So strength and willpower would be best for straight damage right?

pretty much.
you want enough str and dex to put on the gear and get the skills you want. then get a crapload of willpower for stamina so you can use your skills and not just be an auto attack bot.

Is there a place to go to see what all the skills and stuff are for the specialized classes like zerker and reaver?
I'm just trying to figure out the path I wanna take for my overly aggressive, blood thirsty dwarf.

I actually have a pretty interesting 2-H warrior build.
He likes to flirt... with death.
I built him as a 2-handed Dwarf warrior speciality. I ended up buying the soldier peak expansion, mostly just because of the boots... I love the wardens boots.
This allows me to premanantly hold indomitable on.
At first he was just an ogre killer. I increased the game by making him 100% spell resistance.
Even more with a Templar speciality... ya mages pretty much cry.
For everything else there is the "power of the blood," and the Reaver Speciality.
Facing Large numbers of small enemies (Alpha Genlocks to... walking corpses) I two handed swing them back and chop away. I use all of my abilities and get as many down as quickly as I can. Then I turn on Aura of pain, Blood Frenzy, and when I am on my last 25%, I blood fury and then use devour. It is an army killer.
