After playing DA:O for three months I'm now playing DA:A and I so miss Zevran, Morrigan, Alistair and Lilianna.  I was so happy to see Alistair and tried to get him to help me but he was doing kingly things and didn't want to join me.  These four have been constant companions for so long I miss them terribly.  I'm having withdrawals...........

On the positive side I sure LOVE Anders and Nathaniel.  To bad they can't be romanced.

I too miss them...especially Leliana...(she was my love) and funnily enough even Morrigan.
Of all the computer games i have played (and that is many...(going back to The Amstrad 464 to the Atari ST to the Amiga 1200  and finally to the PC and internet) i have never got so attached to characters like i did with DA:O.
I got very emotional and even tearful at parts of the game...i really do love the game so much.
Enjoyng Awakening too.
I only pray that DA2 (if it gets done) will even better with more options for dialogues, more of everything in fact. Image IPB

I, too, got tearful. When you save the werewolfs AND the elves it was so emotional with the music and everything I had to run and get tissues. Also, the ashes quest did the same thing to me.

The worst one was after defeating the darkspawn and talking to Alistair after the coronation when he's remembering all we've been through. I felt sick I was so sad.

NEVER has a game, and I've played many, has made me so emotional as this one. I've been sorry that certain games have ended but this "game" is completely different. I've fretted over decisions I've made wondering if I made mistakes. I've reloaded many times! I hope, hope, hope, DO:A 2 is even close to this game. I'll be playing for many more months to come.........

Missing those characters is part of the emotional aspect of the story =) A lot of people bash Awakening for not being able to use old party members, but I think this approach is a much more realistic and mature way to go about it. By the end of the Dragon Age series, you'll have met and adventured with so many deep and detailed companions that you'll love the universe that much more.

One thing I do hope, which will get me much hate I'm sure, is that Dragon Age 2 will not allow us to import our PC from Origins. I'd like to develop more than one character and still be able to feel like they exist in the same universe.

Just thought I drop by and share some... love, I guess. I especially miss Morrigan but she's got a demon baby and "shall never see [her] again"!

I really miss Sten, but he's off being a Quinari with his commie buddies....

I miss Alistair as well, but we now have Anders, who IS Alistair, but with the ability to blast fools with lighting...

I do miss my pals, especially Zevran. Suprisingly, I really miss Morrigan too. I was thinking to myself last night that she would actually enjoy being a battle mage, as if she were a real person! lol

Velanna started to grate on my nerves and made me miss Morrigan even more. I also think she would have interesting convos with Nate and Anders.

I don't miss Alistair as much probably because I did see him in the beginning and I really like Justice.

I know! I loved Sten! I really love this game too, it's not normal I've actually gotten emotionally involved here. My party became my family and honestly I don't think that after all they've been through they would just depart without any other appearances I understand awakening I've been able to rationalize absences there but if there were really something going on I would like to believe they wouldn't just sit around and not doing anything about it.

I miss Zevran, Leiliana and Dog. Everyone else I can justify, but the three of them have no real good reason not to stick with me. Continuity problem.

Probably one of the best moments of ANY game I've ever played is when you talk to each of your companions before going into Denerim. They all have great, sentimental, moving lines, and then the great music swells as you regain control. Goosebumps every time.

The music of certain scenes in DAO adds to the emotion...just as it does in movies. In fact IT IS the music that pulls on your heartstrings.

I agree with kurairmorgan that the companions were family...but just as in real life, sadly families break up...and this was no different.

I missed Alistair, Zev, Wynne (My usual group) with honorable mention to the others. I hated that you couldn't use them for Awakenings, it felt even more disconnected from Origins for me. And you don't get much by way of dialogue to get to know the new ones.

However Nathaniel and Anders were definite thumbs up, Justice gets points for cool character concept and I really liked Sigrun. Gotta love a girl who loves books. Oghren they should have never brought back was there any reason aside from making you feel this was in the Origins universe for bringing him? I liked him much better in Origins. And don't get me started on Velanna.

In all though I was glad to meet 4 of the new companions I REALLY really missed the ones who I had adventured with previously.

I even missed Dog's barking and Shmooples squeaking...thats how badly I missed the old group.

I'm hoping we'll see some companions in back in coming sequels ... it's doable, obviously, even IF this is the end of the storyline for "our" warden-commander.

It'd be interesting to see some returners from both O and A ... it would be interesting to see, for example, how Zevran & Velanna might interact, for example.Or Dog with Anders' cat Ser Pouncealot.

What a lot of people don't realize is in the end sometimes these decisions come down to whether they can get the voice actors back or not. If they can't ... they can't. It's either that, or sub in a new voice and hope players don't notice (but they usually do).

Personally I would have been happy with other VA's for some if it meant having them and SV was present for Alistair's cameo. Don't they usually have contracts for follow up series with actors when these sort of things are done too? And really Dog? They couldn't get some canned barks and whines? Mabari bond for life, that bond breaking with death (of dog or master) but still...what he has better things to do than watch my back for me? Guess he found some poodle in Denerim and was just doing dog things instead of coming with me.

Morrigan's final goodbye before the AD battle - always gets me. "I'll find you."

Post-Coronation sendoff. I don't want to let any of you go! So painful the parting only makes the reunion that much sweeter! Here's hoping so in DA2.

I agree...this was incredibly well done and very emotional. I wanted to take my time and properly part with each and every member of the party.

I don't think I can stand playing DO:A. I miss the others to much and as one of you said you felt disconnected. I couldn't of said it better myself. That's exactly the right word. I am going to play DA:O again and save DO:A for another time.................

sigh....me too.  I think a big part of it is that in Awakenings there just isn't enough time to get to know the new folks.  Although Nate was probably my favorite due to his indirect ties to the original story and his jerk Dad.  Loved seeing him come around.

Uh huh. I am very  much missing my old companions too Zev, Lel, Shale and Morrigan. Glad to have Oghren but still. I had to stop playing awakenings and pick back up DAO just to get that lovely nostalgia back. I really miss having Alistair by my side. I am so used to having my beloved with me that I feel lost and really lonely without him. Image IPB I do agree that Anders is much like Alistair so it is a bit of comfort. But still I can't help but feel lonely even though my new companions are great and the game is great fun. Still having a good time playing though.

I do enjoy listening to the conversations between Sigrun and Oghren. I think this Oghren is even cruder and more crass than he used to be!Image IPB

Okay at the risk of looking like a dork I have to ask do you play male character ? I play female of course and am queen and i am going to be highly pissed off and upset if the ending even implies I left my king husband. I would never leave my Alistair.

Oh man, am back in the Fade at Blackmarsh. I hate the fade! Even it is a short journey I still hate it as i hated it in the first game. Image IPB

I hear ya, I was kind of prepared for this, I already went through the emotional separation in NWN2, same kind of deal. I'll miss Dog, and Alistair the most I guess. I loved Morrigan as a character, but she was such a **** even when we loved each other, I didn't mind seeing her go. I'm sure DA 2 will have equally great characters, but I won't even bother with the expansion ones.
