Just thought I drop by and share some... love, I guess. I especially miss Morrigan but she's got a demon baby and "shall never see [her] again"!
I'll find her! I don't care what she said about never finding her!!! Hell I am even prepared to make my saintly character evil if it gives me a chance to find her!

I hear ya, I was kind of prepared for this, I already went through the emotional separation in NWN2, same kind of deal. I'll miss Dog, and Alistair the most I guess. I loved Morrigan as a character, but she was such a **** even when we loved each other, I didn't mind seeing her go. I'm sure DA 2 will have equally great characters, but I won't even bother with the expansion ones.
The expansion companions are pretty cool skill wise but you definately do not get to talk or get to know them as well like our original DA companions. So you are probably going to miss that warmth and family feeling you got with your original companions. I know miss that aspect greatly about my new crew. Although it is rather nice and ego boosting to have everyone call you commander, arlessa and be queen at the same time.
You get a couple of key conversations with each one when you give them a specific gift that mean something but that is really about it. I think the best one of all is Justice, who I actually feel more of a connection with second only to Oghren. Am getting ready to go on his personal quest to help him since he got trapped in the body of a grey warden. His plight really makes you want to help him out.
Anders is Alistair in mage form with a more "seedier" side and a good sense of humor. The banter between Sigrun and Oghren is really quite funny as he is constantly sexually harassing her. Velanna is a more b****y and cold morrigan only blonde and in elf form. She has good powers but I don't much care for her at all,
As long as we can bond with our new companions in DA 2 like we did in the first game I will be happy.

I liked how Baldurs Gate series was. Their choice in previous companions that came over to sequel was GREAT. Killed off those I didn't like. They added new companions, had many of the old, and yes you could group with them. Those you couldn't, had entertaining cameos that really added to the game's experience and breathed life into it. Although I would have liked to have Xar and his little friend join the party (just for kicks, they sucked in practice), their side quest was hilarious and lasted a good while, I didn't feel cheated in the end lol. And can anyone say Edwin? Cmon, that was great what could happen to him, plus he could join your party.
Hopefully the sequel won't dis DOA's core game and character plot but be an actual, well you know, sequel.

yup. I can't get into this game really with the new companions. I actually haven't played in days. I thought this would expand the character plot of those I've spent so much time with already. Not drop them for the most part. Only new character I liked and was interested in finding out more of, died in this new batch lol.

My thoughts exactly, it would have been nice to able to choose at least one to come with you.

I know you can't technically romance Anders, but it does say that his relationship status with my character is "Love." Is this just an error or will this perhaps be taken up in another installment? I really like him as a character, especially his introduction.
I think it is just the way Awakenings is, that they kept the same relationship stats as DAO. Your companions can be at "love" status but not be "in love" with you . I am at full love status with Anders and Nathaniel but it just a close buddy relationship. At least for my female character that is.

I was hoping we'd see either Zevran or Leliana again in Awakening but alas, it was not to be.
Here's to hoping we see some of our old favorites in DA2.

i missed the original characters a bit and regretted the lack of continuity in Awakenings.
really hoping they step it up a bit for DA2.

Awakening felt very short and quick, but I loved the additional skills you get there. Bad thing was, I had to replay the silverite mines thrice (2xlosing all the equipment of main char, the 3rd time going in there with basically sub-standard equipment to get your stuff back at the end)
I wanted a tank (Justice) early on, so did that at the start. I left getting Velanna to the last, but then I was not able to do the joining ceremony with her anymore...not that it mattered much, but it would have been nice for completion.
