Why don't we have that option in Dragon Age orgins? I know we have a choice of voices to pick from when picking are charecters, but i'd glady give up all those choices to actually here my charecter speak when engaging in conversations.
I mean come on, who wouldn't enjoy hearing their warden calling Anora a ****?

It works for an interactive movie such as mass effect. It does not however work as well with a fullblown RPG such as Dragon age.
Money and time better spent elsewhere.

Yes, lets add a ****load of spoken dialog, which will take time away from other areas, such as polish or more likley, actual gameplay content. Because everyone totally wants a pre determined voiceset for their imagined character. Because that always fits with what the player has in mind for their character.

I have to agree with this, that system is cool in ME but in DAO i don't want a pre made voice for my char. Also make an elf/dwarf/human male and female voice would be kinda expensive i think.

The wonderful thing about DA is the role-playing. If any of you have ever played an RPG where your character has a voice you would know that this breaks immersion unless the voice is close to your own speaking voice. If my characters spoke with an American accent and used American pronunciation it would destroy the fantasy of me being in the story because I can't pronounce words that way.
The costs of adding a Warden's voice would be astronomical - just think of all the languages the game goes out in. No thanks, I prefer to imagine my Warden speaking because that way, what I imagine fits with how I play my characters.

Does an npc elf sounds any different to a human? Even female dwafes don't sound any different to elf or human females at all - arguably no need at all to record that many voices.
However, given the amount of dialogue in DA, that would be a monumental task though. I'd like it, but that might only work with the dialogue light system introduced with DAA.

Of course I notice strong voice colours - like Lelianas french, but then again, I can't tell if Zevran is italian or spanish english, not to speak of the difference between, let's say, australian or american, if it's not done over the top.

Zevran has a Spanish accent I believe, although Antiva is clearly based upon the Italian city-states.

Ah, I see where you’re coming from and yes most people make up a voice for their characters. And it would most likely would ruin something else in the game, every idea has it’s pro’s and it’s co’s. I respect that, and you’ve actually opened my eyes a little. But come on, was the sarcasm really that necessary?
Also Quinari are monotone they practically speak the queens English (No not Anora, I mean the queen of England) , they don’t have an accent. Well not one I’m familiar with.

Yes! Jennifer Hale for female warden! They're calling the warden commander now, might as well go all the way. Shepard is just the warden reincarnated many years in the future.
Ten bucks bet that Mass effect is just dragon age centuries after. They got the sameee mooon man !!!!

Haha, sorry, I'm taken back a bit by your graciousness. I do love my sarcasm and most people don't tend to respond all too well to it for obvious reasons.

The dialog and conversation choices are good in Dragon Age because they don't have to worry about voicework for the hero.
Mass Effect has limited dialogue in comparison to Dragon Age, and the conversation trees are really obvious and it begins to feel like a game pretty quickly.
(And shepard doesnt feel like a character because he doesn't 'act', he simply 'speaks' different tones. Even if you go pure renegade or paragon, he/she feels bipolar and robotic. If you converse with real people in real life, shepard's 'personality' takes you down uncanny valley)
This reminds me of people in gears of war asking for melee weapons, people in socom asking for a jump button, and people in oblivion asking for it to become an MMO (wtf?).
You don't know what makes this game good, so you're going to ask for 'upgrades' that will actually REMOVE part of what makes this game magical. sigh, thanks

Unworkable. Too expensive, too many variables. Either role-playing or game

I agree I was thinking back -- NWN 1 Player mods which had no choice acting
what so ever and some of them are even better then the OC (or even HotU).
Don't get me wrong, but voice acting is wonderful, but is more to game
then just voice acting. I prefer more content then voice acting --every game,
the player must use their mind to make the game real.
