Okay it's been 8 months since after the dragon age story correct? So how the hell did oghren end up with a baby? In 8 months? I mean...come on. Dwarfen pregancies don't last long I take it.

I think you answered your own question.

The obvious reason would be that they have shorter pregancies than humans.

Ya, and Rica from the Casteless Origins gave birth the Bhelens baby really quickly. So, not an an isolated incident on Felsi's part. And no, Dwarfs are not like rodents - they take a while to impregnate for one thing and another they are a noble people and blah blah blah...blah.

Well, I just assumed that it had been 9 or 10 months, and that Oghren turns out to be the kind of b*****d who'd leave a woman who'd just given birth to his child. I was pretty surprised by that, I must say.

While playing a mage, Wynne makes a comment at one point about it being almost a year since you left the tower. I would think that would apply to all the Origins, so it's entirely possible that it's been almost a year since Rica got pregnant by the time you get back there. Yes it could be quicker than that if you go there first, but given traveling times on foot across the country several times it's entirely possible that if you go there second or third it's been a year or more. Or she could have already been pregnant before the casteless origin ends and just didn't know it yet or tell anyone if she did know.

As for Felsi, maybe the baby came early? Either that or dwarven gestation is ridiculously short compared to human gestation.

Edit: Maybe we'll get lucky and Gaider will come clear it up for us.

I would say that maybe Oghren left before the kid was born, but the US epiloguge says that he cried when he held his first child of the PC's gender in his arms and named it after them. Still, do we really know that different species have the same period of gestation as humans?

It would have to be similar though for cross-species mating to result in a child though wouldn't it? I'm definitely not an expert on gestation periods or anything like that, but it just seems like two species with completely different gestational periods wouldn't be able to produce viable offspring. We know that dwarves/elves and humans always create human offspring, and for that to happen the dna and gestational periods/processes would have to be similar (though the human's dna is dominant to the others). Wouldn't they?

Dwarves are obviously smaller. So I'm sure it doesnt take as long to develope a kid and squeel it out.

Yeah but llama's are smaller than cows (weight-wise) and their gestation is longer. And we're smaller than cows but our gestation periods are darn close to being the same.

Elves and humans create humans. Humans and Dwarves create half-dwarves, but they are rare and not in either game. Theycan pass themselves off as either a tall dwarf or a short human.
