Soloing Origins on nightmare was actually fun. Soloing Awakening on nightmare, I only had to reload once - and I play a mage without arcane warrior spec.

I would almost go far as to say that soloing Awakening is easier than doing Origins with a full party. It actually probably is easier with the exception of the elite bosses.

I mean, seriously.....when Hand of Winter or Massacre or Nature's Vengeance etc. basically 1 shots every non-elite you see it gets a little bit silly.

It was definitely on the easy side. I don't really care about the difficulty when I play, but here I noticed that it was a bit easy. Not too easy, though, in my opinion, but definitely easier than Origins.

have devs said anything about this at all?

I made a thread before the expansion was released asking for a dev responce concerning their opinion on the difficulty of Origins, and if it got ramped up some for Awakenings.  It never got a responce, I saw a few other threads asking the same thing that never did either.  If anyone does know of one I would appreciate a link tho, as at least for me, it's the major selling point if I buy any future DAO releases.

Origins was to hard on Normal, this is to easy on Normal, they need to find a good balance.

I just finished off the end boss and I must say I was very disappointed at the level of difficulty. I just ran through all the enemies in the game. I didn't even drink a single potion until the end boss. Elites or bosses didn't really present any need to alter any of my tactics, they just took slightly longer to die.

I agree it did some pretty easy, I think they gave in too easy to people complaining about difficulty, games tend to be so easy on normal settings these days that people have become complacent, expecting it to be a pleasant ride without any form of challenge. I think the problem with the game, as well as Dragon Age Origins, is that you can you practically become a human shop for health pots, Lyrium and now stamina pots. When you are fighting a boss such as a dragon, you can basically gulp, gulp, gulp than be forced to use tactics. I think Mages are way over-powered, they need to slow down the spell re-charge and increase the amount of mana eaten to make the decision of spells used count as opposed to spamming them relentlessly.

Nightmare in Awakening is a joke.

Of course my party was quite min-maxed; two DW-Rogues and a Mage with the right skills obviouly make short work of everything.

But that is why I play on Nightmare in the first place, to be able to min-max and still have a challenge.

People who have no clue about the game mechanics should play on normal or whatever.
That's why you have different difficulties in the first place - so that every kind of player can select what feels right for him.

But Normal in Awakening probably only feels right for a brain-amputated amoeba or something.

Still, Awakening was fun anyway.
I just would have enjoyed it a lot more if it had been challenging, too.

Hopefully they get it right for the next expansion.

way too easy on any difficulty. overall Awakenings felt shallow. i enjoyed what new content there was but overall game felt a bit hollow. like when you see the tasty looking cheeseburger in the commercial thats thick and juicy with all the trimmings then you order one and you get the anorexic, deflated substitute saturated with grease. it tastes OK, but you know you got ripped off.

Finished it a couple of hours ago, dw rogue on nightmare. Died once, on my first final boss atempt. It's a pity its so easy, some of the fights have interesting mechanics (or look like they do anyway), 3 melee + healer charging in without any regard for tactics worked on every single fight except the last.

Considering I thought Origins was too easy in and of itself (mostly just because of the combat system and the whole "When someone dies, they miraculously get up after the fight is over" thing.) I was extremely disappointed in Awakenings. I bought ME1, ME2, DA:O and DA:A all on the same day as their release. After thinking more about DA:O though, I'm beginning to feel as though they are drifting away from what appeals to me. They deserve the benefit of the doubt, but...it's definately been a long time since BG, and they have definately changed drastically since then. If their next games drift further, I'll stray away from Bioware.

Way too easy.

I really had a lot of fun with DA:O on nightmare because FINALLY was a challengin game (for about the first 7 levels or so, then it got too easy). Had to use tacticts and think to win.

I dont even want to get into how easy awakening is.. Thankfully I love the story and the missions and what not so I can still play, but I would like it so much more if the battles actually required a thought or two.

i find it moderately challenging. yeah, i never die... i resent dying. this means i go to basically any lengths to survive. i started DA:O on hard with my second run because i found my first run on normal to easy. the only problem was that i had dropped the spirit healer for the second run.
i never use the tactics since i want full control. this costs me the chance of probrably ever experiencing nightmare, but i'd rather clear hard myself than sit and brag about the nightmare run the Tactics system did for me.

some people in here are just so full of blow. if you want a challenge on nightmare, then play it as the intended the tactical vets should play it. get rid of your tactics setup. that's what i do.
as much as you complain about how ****** easy it is, you still have responsibility of enhancing the challenge for yourself. my view is, all you whiners should turn the difficulty up untill it fits. if it never fits, then clear your tactics tab and do it all yourselves. it's also much more awesome to have done it without.

just my oppinion on this.

The intended way? When you can solo nightmare the game is not challenging peroid.
