*****SPOILERS*****
Sorry, with all the spoilers already mentioned and it in the title - I didn't realize that this was in the No Spoiler forum - perhaps someone should move it...
Anders and Alistair do look similar; however, I don’t believe that Anders is Katriel or Fiona’s child. Furthermore, I believe it unlikely that he is Maric’s child.
Katriel died during the books and there was no mention that she was ever pregnant or with child at any point. If Katriel had been visibly pregnant or given birth to a child that would have ended Rowan’s suspicions about if her affair with Maric continued past the first night.
Duncan promised to watch over Fiona’s child. As already mentioned, if Anders was that child, he certainly did a bad job of it. Especially, since it is clear Duncan was watching over Alistair.
Maric does not seem to be the type to sleep around with a lot of women. He really wanted Fiona’s child to be a part of his life and even live in the castle. There are gossip rumors that Maric has a bastard son who lives in the castle. It is possible that Anders was that child and sent off to the Circle as a teen. He appears to have been faithful to Rowan during their marriage and had a lot of regrets over Katriel. He even wanted Fiona to stay with him despite her being an elf and a mage. So, he does not appear to be the type to sleep around carelessly. There is no mention of any other romance or sexual relationship in the books other than Katriel or Fiona.
The only other possible sexual encounter in the books would have been Flemeth & Maric. I think that it is doubtful that Anders is the result of this since Flemeth seems to only have daughters and Flemeth would not likely send her son off to the Circle – that doesn’t make any sense. It seems more likely that Morrigan may be the result of a Flemeth/Maric one night stand which adds a whole new meaning to the “dark ritual.”
