You're putting words into my mouth. Nowhere did I say anything about ignoring anything, but the way people on these forums go on like Bioware absolutely must take everything said here to heart, and its some kind of great personal offense when they don't do exactly as they wanted or say, or go out of their way to make sure their specific complaints addressed because they are a 'fan' or something is ridiculous.
Didn't put a single word in anyones mouth, I quoted that little section and simply stated that such logic is nonsense. We don't know if the "haters" are a vocal minority, Bioware may since I'm sure they employee methods of determining a products reception, but we aren't sure who the minority is. I do agree with the sentiment here, but I have seen more what appears to be genuine displeasure posted on the expansion here on the forums then I've seen nonsensical rants. I've said this before, I've seen more "troll" style posts from "Bioware defenders" then I've seen from those criticizing this product.
The fact that Bioware takes any sort of heed from what fans of their game have to say at all, says a lot. The fact that the developers actually take time to come here and discuss why they did things they way they did on occasion says even more.
I'm not really sure what advice they from us, I'm sure to some extent they do but I think it's pretty safe to assume the developers are developing for themselves. As far as developers taking their time and detailing things, personally I don't see them doing anything special. Aside from Gaider they usually only take the safe stuff and compared to other game forums I hang around they're incredibly secluded from the community. Nothing wrong with that mind you, I just think people praise Bioware to much for interacting with us when in reality they're minimalists compared to many other developers.
But if people really believe that Bioware takes everything that shows up on their forums as a direct representation of what people think of their games, or that input they get from it is used as anything more than one factor amongst many that go into make their final desicions, they're quite deluded.
It's obviously a direct representation of what people think of their games. Everyone on this forum is a person after all and those who have played it will obviously have views and those views represent what they feel about the game, whether it's shared with only one other or a million others does not discount the complaint/praise anymore or anyless. Now obviously Bioware shouldn't be listening to the individuals, rather they should be looking at the more regular and reasonable complaints and praises which is exactly what they do..
If they think that Bioware actually owes anyone discounted games, or selling their games for lower than what's deemed profitable, they obviously have no inclination of how business works, no less the fact that companies need to make profit in order to continuing existing.
I agree, which is why I attacked Seagull for such idiocy.

I loved origins and have replayed it several times.because it was so good i couldn't wait for awakenings. After playing awakenings i lost all faith in future games from this company.I will never pre order and will wait till i get feed back on any future games. It will take a hell of a lot to get me to purchase another
Why so serious? Awakenings is like the ToB to BG2.. what aren't people understanding about what an expansion is. It's levels 20-30ish, DAY was 1-20. So you get about 1/3 the content.

that's what i'm trying to figure out. i think maybe people have forgotten what a true expansion is since they've become less common. expansions aren't full games. they expand on the original and are smaller in scale budget, and character development.Haexpane wrote...

The problem is there didn't seem to be a lot of thought put in it to tie it in with how each individual origins ended.Haexpane wrote...

WHAS DA PRAHBLAM?
All the hype and expected continuations or at least explanations of where your old party went to.I mean would it be so hard as to throw a few lines of text in of what happened to dog or possibly how my dead warden had risen from the dead?Being stuck in one section of the map with two areas that consisted of a small battle and then no need to reenter .The cat decribed as a useable item that consists of an animation and nothing else much like some skills carried over from origins that wont work?Point is I expected a little more.It was hyped like it was going to be more. From the people who made origins it seemed a sub par preformance.I mean what now ?Are we supposed to fork out more money for more content? If so just how good of a product is that going to be?
Point is they sucked me in with origins to a beautiful game that drew you into the story and let me down with awakenings.I can't help to be hesitent to hand them my cash without a detailed discription of what I am getting now.

The companions in Awakening were more 2 dimensional in Awakening, and my thought is...that perhaps its because they weren't meant to stick around.
Even the ending has your commander all of a sudden disappearing for parts unknown.
I think..if everyone takes a look at this, that a new story is going to be told once DA:2 or whatever it will be called..comes out.
Perhaps that is what we are going to find out in 5 days..x hours, x minutes, x seconds.
Maybe hold onto your ire and disappointment for now, give it the benefit of the doubt..maybe in 5 days we'll see what the big overall picture is for DA.
I still say, however...IF this is what Bioware is doing, that the endings could have been tapered off better..more gradually...perhaps?
Anyways my two copper pennies.

BioWare has always made games. Hindsight is always 20/20. People want to compare Dragon Age to BG1 and BG2. People complained back then about all the bugs and patches, that certain romances never happened or took to long to develop. Now everyone looks back on those games with fondness forgetting all the complaints back then.
I remember them. The more things change the more they remain the same.

@ Madcat
Check your personal Bio page, this count down mysteriously appeared there, and other sites to do with Bioware, right now there is speculation it might be, to do with Da: 2, ME3 or possibly Tor.
And of course Chris Priestly is being all mysterious about it. hehe

Hindsight can be 20/29, but I replayed BG2 and the expansion back in sept/oct in anticipation of DA:O's release, only to be let down. Whe I was finally able to play DA:O, it felt like taking a step backward.
DA:A is yet another of those steps. But not even backwards, really. It's like it forgot where it was going and just decided to follow the crowd of people on the sidewalk next to it.

I have played them all from Ultima 1 to DA:A (including BG series, Icewind Dale series, PST, NWN ! & 2 etc). I enjoyed both DA:O and DA:A. YMMV.

It is nice to want to have passion and soul in your work, but it does not buy life's necessities or luxuries. It does not feed a family. It does not ensure survival. Sometimes when you are standing between oblivion and soul. Guess what soul loses. That is a shame, but it is reality.
BioWare makes fantasies, it exists in reality. Reality can be a hard taskmaster.

My dear gamers at the end of the day. When all things are considered it is about profit. Businesses run on it. Businesses do not run on soul or passion. Everyone who works on the games wants to be paid so that can enjoy their life as much or as little as we do.

All that is fine and dandy.
The problem is when a companys' business plan negatively effects the product.
We as customers did not invest our monies and trust into a business plan, we invested in the games.
A company can have the best business plans around but if the product is shoddy and shows a lack of commitment, they will fail.
