It would be nice if they at least acknowledged it.

Couple posts from actual Bioware folk about it somewhere in here, too (too lazy to find the specific pages):
Bugs with 1.03 patch...
Granted, they haven't exactly issued a press release about it, but they do admit the problem exists. Or at least a couple of them do.

1) open task manger (ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc) and switch to the processes tab
2) once dragon age is running, right click it's process, click "set affinity"
3) deselect all but CPU 0, this will stop it from trying to use all your processors, which for some reason is apparently fatal to dragon age in it's current state.
hopefully this will be fixed in teh next patch, if and when it ever comes.

Origins works fine
Awakening crashes always when it tries to load something (dialogues, skills, new areas) and this of course makes the game totally unplayable. Tried out everything suggested in this thread, reinstalling and so... Any ideas?

Had increasing number of crashes during awakening. I have tried everything that anyone ever adviced. The final solution is from yesterday. I have moved the game from WIN7 64bit to winXP 32bit. There it runs without any crashes.

I have Awakening installed and the most recent patch (1.04) which I did install after installing both games, but it has been crashing when playing Origins. It also happens to me always in combat, it seems. It started happening in the Circle of Magi quest, which I did first after Ostagar, particularly when fighting Uldred and it has also happened particularly when fighting mages, so I think it must be to do with spells being cast.
I tried these things to resolve the issue:
Set graphics and resolution to the lowest setting
Run in compatability mode
Run as administrator
Disabled V-Sync, Frame Buffer Effects and Multiple Render Targets.
None of these did any good.
My computer is good enough to play this game, (so I was told by the shop assistant).
My specs are:
Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Athlon 2 X3 400e Triple Core Processor 2.2Ghz
ATI Radeon HD 5450 (dedicated) Graphics Card 512MB (even though it says 2295MB in dxdiag???)
4gb RAM
500MB of HDD space
IMPORTANT:
Just recently I started playing in Windowed Mode on medium graphics and texture and 2nd to highest resolution (1600x900) and it hasn't crashed so far and I have been playing through many battles, so fingers crossed. I've heard that this puts more strain on your computer, so I'm shocked this worked. The graphic detail is also surprisingly sharp. I suggest some people who are having the same issues, try this and see what happens. I want to know if it's just coincidence or if this actually does it a favour.
It isn't the greatest way to enjoy the game as there's nothing like playing it on fullscreen, but if it fixes the problem, I'll happily keep playing in Windowed Mode.
I'll keep you updated if I get another crash.

I recently bought a new PC, in preparation for Dragon Age 2's release (Can't wait!!), I asked the shop assistant if it was good enough to play that game and Dragon Age Origins/Awakening and he assured me it was. But I've been having the same problems with Dragon Age Origins crashing to desktop, very frequently and giving me the message "Dragon Age has stopped working" and these details:

UPDATE:
Not long after I posted, I went back to playing the game and got another crash!!!! (Fighting the Dust Town thugs on entering Dust Town in Orzamaar, so no mages there, except Wynne, but she didn't really cast anything amazing). This is really frustrating!!! Somebody please help, lol. I haven't been able to play this game properly for days.

"ing affinity to CPU0 worked for me, for those who do not know:
1) open task manger (ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc) and switch to the processes tab
2) once dragon age is running, right click it's process, click "set affinity"
3) deselect all but CPU 0, this will stop it from trying to use all your processors, which for some reason is apparently fatal to dragon age in it's current state.
hopefully this will be fixed in teh next patch, if and when it ever comes."

I tried that and when I right clicked on Set Affinity, it told me access is denied. :-(
