We know why its only available as Download over PSN: Sony dictates a developer must choose between disc-based and digital distribution in Europe.

But why does it cost 1/3 more than the N. American version?

(Please report here where you live & what the price it is on the PSN in your local currency)

well...put it this way. the expansion on xbox live = 27.99....this is about 42 us dollars. which is at least close.
the expansion on psn = 31.99
the xbox360 disc = 24.99

thats here in england in gbp.
and the problem i have is simple...why is the xbox live version cheaper than the ps3 one.
the disc...can be cheaper because obviously stores can go below the rrp. but to me...its just a difference in price which has not been explained as far as i am aware.

In Italy, the price of the downloadable content (the only one buyable, lol) is 40 euros, which means 54,15 us dollars.

So, are really the europeans meant to pay for a little expansion more than a lot of americans paid for the DA:O full game?

If they don't lower the price (or start to sell a disc version), I won't buy it.

In Sweden we can only buy it off PS store for 399 Sek, which translates into 55.4 USD/40.9 Euro.

I just say LoL to that.

I would never had shelled out that kinda money for an expansion if I wasn't such a huge fan of Origins.

For one simple reason... because money is no problem in europe. Everybody is rich and starts with a croissant and caviar breakfast into the day. Usually after that it's time to drive with a BMW to the next Mountain in order to get some heli skiing done. Then it's time to chillax in our villas at the beaches of monte carlo, followed by a night of clubbing from barcelona to london.

Suck it Americans !!!

How constructive.....

I don't know the laws in each of your European countries. Perhaps there are import taxes or other levies that cause the price to go up? Would VAT apply, etc? Perhaps Sony is charging a higher distribution fee in Europe or a higher licensing fee than Microsoft and that is causing the price disparity? I certainly won't defend Bioware/EA but without any real evidence of price gouging, other than the idle speculation you've got here with intellectuals like Adamzen, there's no real way to know if they are actually benefiting from such things.

i know wicked...
i have emailed sony as well and awaiting an answer. hopefully some way will get one.

an official one. it seems strange, as im unsure if i have seen identical dlc for different prices on xbox and psn? i may be wrong though.

sony:
Dear Mr Sibley,

Thank you for your recent correspondence.

Please direct your query to the games publisher, Electronic Arts (EA) as they are responsible for the pricing on the downloadable content (DLC) on this game

contacting ea next then....

Oh EA, why? Even $40 dollars is a lot and now charging more for Europe is very wrong. EA now wants to charge for Demos: http://www.gamespot....ws/6253980.html

I'm contacting EA for the locked saves, waiting. Bioware says Sony, Sony says EA, waiting for EA now.

It's cheaper on XBox Live because that service is paid for by individual user subscriptions. Sony charge the publisher in Euro's per megabyte downloaded. Therefore, each time Awakenings is sold Sony charge a small amount to EA. Having said that, it probably doesn't explain the £5 difference. Some publishers just suck up that cost, EA evidently don't.

I suspect its because they have hooked you into the game by now and so feel that you will pay pretty much anything to get the next instalment. With no competition to worry about Sony can pretty much charge what they like, its not as if you go out and buy the disc.

I've said it on another forum and I will say it here. We all need to tell Watchdog on the BBC as the sort this kinda thing out often when a company ignores its costumers and trys to charge them more than they should.

Good idea.
I personally started to avoid games published by EA. Just the other day i saw a cheap copy of Brütal Legends and was about to buy it when i spotted the EA logo on its cover...
I guess i'll buy the next Madden but only because there isn't any real football alternative out yet...the rest well...i don't need to play the handful of good games EA publishes... a looooot of alternatives there

Speak up with your wallets, yo!

@terror. well. i guess i could see that. although as you say i couldnt see the reason for the 5 quid difference. and also, if thats the case...why didnt ea go for the disc option instead of the dlc? and charge the rrp 29.99.

just doesnt seem quite right. hopefully have a response soon.
