To avoid the crashes, install Awakenings on top of Origins and patch 1.02. The patch 1.03 on the Awakenings DVD does a clean install. You will still have some of the inherent bugs that are in Awakenings but a lot few of the CtD bugs that most people have encountered.. ..

I did this and it made no difference.

This make sense. This is why I have not been having problems this time around. I installed Origins, Awakening, and patch 1.03 all before I began playing Origins a second time around. So far, so good. Thank you.

As I began second play-through, I did not notice any bugs. I read about the "stealing bug" and was a bit angered to find out they were right. Sure enough, I would get "Stealing Success" message but nothing new in my inventory. I actually had to write down my inventory and compare until I realized I was a stealing bug victim. Most people don't even know about it. They just keep stealing not even realizing they are actually not stealing anything. You still get coin and "fixed" items, but not the little random stuff that really does help during the game play, especially the health poultices. After hours of searching I finally found a great combination that works! Just look up the project and search for "stealing". Download the most popular one, which is the one that worked for me - Stealing and Dog Find fix. I also downloaded and installed Auto Loot mod and now I know exactly what I'm stealing every time without having to constantly look through my current inventory. I loved them so much I just had to write about them. Actually started a new post entitled, "Finally, a stealing combination that works!"

So for me, I didn't have a problem with the crashing, but I definitely needed that stealing bug fix.
