I am going to the game and storyline a 8/10 however due to the bugs I am going to have to sadly remove 2 points.

Pros:

Great storyline, dialogue and interaction with the new companions. I enjoy how they are brought in, interact not only with me, but with one another continuing on conversations they have with one another throughout the game. Save for a particular male dwarf I enjoyed all of them.

The new abilities are wonderful. They open up new possibilities of character builds both RP wise as well as min maxing. This has provided me with a great deal of fun.

Cons

Pickpocket bug. My mage is a Kleptomaniac he cannot help himself well except he can't get away with the goods now.

Background bug some of my old files were corrupted (the blank picture) when I wiped everything clean it started saying things such as I let Connor's mother the Arlessa be killed to save him when I allowed the Circle Mages to do so.

Lack of backwards compatibility. I'm okay with none of the good companions being brought over, however the new skills and such should be able to port back into the original once they are unlocked.

Edit: I forgot to mention this game seemed very very easy which is a con for me. I would have loved more of a challange.

Price: If the bugs are fixed and my items from Origins are ported over along with these new abilities being allowed in Origins I would believe it would be worth the $40 and get back the 8/10 I want it to have.

7.5/10, a bit buggy and ends abruptly. Also am taking into account import issues regarding items. Pro's has fantastic set of new enemies and story choice that impacts your gameplay, but also is a tad on the easy side.

i gave Origins 10/10 this eh 5/10 the conversation system for this game bites, its very buggy i know games have bugs but this one has way to many, no transfer of alot of the other DLC content or preorder content 40 bucks is a bit steep price to pay.

Good story always want to know where the Architect was and up to, like the area's u visit is nice.

Origins, 9/10. Awakening, 6.5 or 7/10

I haven't really had any major problems with bugs, necessarily, in either, but the fact that I might at some point, and the fact that some of them are from Origins launch, and then from patches, to ya know, fix said bugs, makes me worry a bit. I dislike the new convo system taking the place of the old one; I think a merge of them would be best. Mhairi -> gah. Oghren is irritating, but the rest of the companions are cool (Sigrun [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]) or at least tolerable. playing through on a mage, so I haven't seen too many of the new items, but they look good and are strong. love the new specs, etc. haven't beaten it quite yet, but it does feel a bit short. difficulty seems a bit wonky to me. or its just right, who knows. mobs, etc are ****** easy, but at least boss fights feel like boss fights now.

It's more DA, so I'm happy, especially since I have new toys. I'm glad I got it, and for like $20. not necessarily worth the $40 IMO. whoever said $30 or so, that's about right.

overall id give it a 7.8. i personally enjoyed the story overall and thought the characters were well done. I also enjoyed the new specializations and thought overall the gameplay was strong. I especially liked the bonus boss battle and beginning of the plot.

there are really only a couple of issues i have keeping the game at a lower score..

1. i dont have access to the characters i normally run with in the original game (no morrigan, leliana, etc).

2. the price is steap.. paying $40 for a 15 hour RPG (even if its an expansion) is a bit expensive.. it also doesnt help to hear that EU players are getting the game for around $20 american or so (after converting the euros).

8/10

I liked it more than I thought I would after reading some of the comments here.  Most of the companions are great and I like boss battles and the whole governing thing.  The bugs aren't really bad enough for me to subtract any points and the price isn't too too bad.  My main problem is with the new dialogue system they created, even though I really liked the companions I felt like i barely knew them at the end of the game.

I give it 4 or 5 out of 10. I just finished playing it for the second time and I still feel disappointed. There are a lot of nice things about this expansion but its just not a replayer for me. I replayed DAO about twenty times and will go back there again after a small break.

This one I will leave for quite a long while. I just don't feel anything finished well...I just don't know why I have this sense of disappointment and dissatisfaction...sigh.

6/10 As pointed out by several people, continuity issue is a fatal problem. If you don't have the resource, then just flat out take away the import character feature and make a story that is more independent from the Origin.

-0.5 for the bugs.
-0.5 for Oghren. Really? Out of all companions, Bioware chose Oghren? The game doesn't even expand upon him much if at all. It actually kills all the development he had in Origins.
-2.0 for it feeling rushed. Really, how hard is it to put in a few typed letters from Leliana/Zevran? (This includes the continuity issues, lack of interactions, etc.)

Origins was a high 9, almost a perfect 10.

Would never have bought it if I had known its real title was "DA:Naked zombie warden".

It is not an expansion, its a standalone game that (for many) even in story is disconnected from the first one. And if you see it at that: those 40 bucks would have been better spent on something that has more than 15 hours of bugged gameplay.

Disabling DLCs is a joke (And will come to bite them in the behind - why should I pay Bioware to download content when Bioware then disables that content when I want to continue playing? They have just killed any reason to buy dlcs.)

EA is in financial trouble - the whole gaming industry is. And to get back on track EA has to milk its cash-cows like Bioware for what they are worth. I understand that.

But that also means that we will get more crap of "Naked Zombie Warden"-Quality than of the things we remember Bioware for (been a fan since Shattered Steel). I guess they have already calculated the cost of loosing a couple of thousand fans versus the gains of catering to a less demanding audience and decided it was well worth it.

I'd go 8. I liked a lot of the mechanics that changed and I liked the core story elements. It was missing some of the 'well directed' quality from Origins though. For an expansion I liked it a lot however.

I'm at a 5/10. I'm on my first playthru with a non-import char. I've never played a game that can be so easily messed up in a way that ruins the whole result. It was way too difficult to force saves in between cutscenes and I ended up missing half of the Blackmarsh Fade and parts of the Silverite mines (epic fail). My lvl 18 toon is now only lvl 28 and all that's left to do is The Mother. *sigh*

I hate the lack of depth in the companion relationships- and it's not about romance (i found myself REALLY missing my old companions). It seems too easy to gain approval and access companion quests (such as they are) yet there is no dialogue. I do like the new companions, but why are the women so incredibly miserable until you boost their approval significantly?!? I wanted to slap Sigrun every time I had to get her to open a chest.

I had numerous quests that were completed but never left the quest log- though I did enjoy squeezing extra money out of the smugglers after refusing to kill the guard commander.

Overall, it's too glitchy, lacking continuity, and I felt like I kept falling into cutscenes with no going back- end result, a good portion of the content was missed! The price was steep IMO. I'm slightly afraid of the next expansion being as poor quality. Hopefully playthru #2 (if it happens) will be better. I may just go back to the basegame and DLC and avoid Awakening. To end on a positive note, I liked the spin of the storyline- 2 darkspawn factions at odds AND I almost jumped out of my chair the first time I saw The Mother do that scream thing :)

8.5/10. Better than Throne of Bhaal. Almost a 9/10 (i.e. as good of an expansion as Dragon Age was of a core game), but half a point deducted for bugs.

I get the feeling that a lot of people are judging Awakening as though it were a full game, which is deflating their scores vice Gamespot et al who actually reviewed it as an expansion. I'm not very sympathetic to the argument that it should be scored as a full game due to the cost, since it *is* cheaper than a full game--just less cheaper than most would like. ;)

I prefer to score Awakening in terms of its quality/value as an expansion pack, and not as some cost-to-hours consideration.

Pros: Improved conversation mechanics, cooler boss fights, spells that are actually useful. Also a 10fps increase.

Cons: 50$, bugs, runes that waste your time and gold, no support for pre-existing dlc, rushed plot, no alistair (he said he would be at my side all the time...wtf...), lore/continuity issues, lack of new music

6.5/10 for the game

3/10 for value

I give it a solid 8.5/10:

-Hate the dialogue system. Without the power to initiate conversation, I felt I was merely teased with the possibility of great characters. It was like being given an awesome sports car, but being told I could only look at it.

-I haven't experienced any major bugs, just the occasional audio drop-out. The game seems to chug when there's a lot of action on the screen, but that might be the price I pay for gaming on the PS3.

-The cameos could have been done better; they had the air of a first-time meeting. I wasn't expecting a full on "let's reminisce about that time we killed the Archdemon," but ANY question regarding my game results would have been nice. *scoffs at Wynne's, "Hello old friend..."* (this esp. annoyed me because, according to my ending in Origins, she's Mage-advisor to the court. Since I'm Alistair's wife or princess-consort or whatever, we should see one another quite a bit).

-I loved the new abilities, skills, and specializations, and the ability to respec (would have loved this in Origins). I had a lot of fun trying out different things. I also loved being able to add runes to armor and even crafting them myself, though that entire process is a bit much.

-The actual story was interesting and engaging. Was it me or were things a lot darker this time around? Don't get me wrong, I like 'dark', but there seemed to be a rosier tint in Origins... unless I'm misremembering.

But overall, I DID enjoy my playthrough and I was highly entertained - which is really the basis of what I want from any form of entertainment I buy (such as: movies, music, theatre tickets, comics, etc.).

If I'm to be completely honest (notwithstanding whatever complaints I've posted elsewhere: which are mostly regarding the new dialogue system), it was nice to get one last fix of DA .

I gave it an 8.5 out of 10.

I really wish the ending was a cinematic rather than.....what you get instead.

Don't listen to the guys here complaining about bugs. Just save often. You should be saving often anyway. Yeah, the game crashed..big F-ing deal. Just save.

And guys...bugs can be fixed. What the heck do you expect? It came out three days ago. What's the last game that you can think of that came out perfect with no bugs. I think we've all been spoiled with other games by Bioware that we don't realize that (gasp)....it is normal for games to have bugs on the first day. Big deal. They'll come out with a patch that fixes that.

If you're looking for an expansion.

Hear the word again: EXPANSION

Then this is awesome to get. Honestly, most expansions from games suck but this one was pretty damn good.

I'm all for forgiveness and leniency and such but let's not get carried away now, games aren't supposed to be crashing and saving often isn't exactly an ideal solution. I mean, if there is one truly legit thing people can complain about it is bugs, everything else is subjective at best but bugs that inhibit ones enjoyment of a product are unanimously despised and isn't something that should really be waved off.

6/10 for cost, length, bugs and I didn't like the new conversation system at all. Having to carry X out to talk in location Y for conversation Z. I want to play and have fun not have random conversations with companions out in the field (Unless I click on them. Leli had a lot to say about some areas on Origins). The companions were fun for the most part though 2 of them I told to take a hike as their personalities grated on my nerves.

I knew it wasn't going to be long but the ending just left me wanting something more. AND the ending slides while for the most part satisfied me I had an acceptable ending left me wondering WTF??? I can only suppose my Cousland's personal slide was leading up to the sequel or another expansion.

*Edit* for me, replayability of the expansion was nil.  Once was enough to satisfy me to get my "Canon" ending for my Cousland.  I have no desire to play out an Orlesian warden.  Its back to Origins for me till they come out with something else.
