I liked the story although the ending was rather quick and unsatisfying. Characters were in true form. I have a top-notch rig (PC) so my glitches were few but at sometimes brutal (silverite mines items missing). I didnt get the architectural awe as I did in say...the elven ruins in the Brez Forest. All-in-all I think that Bioware should hire me to beta test seeing that all I do everyday is play PC games (lucky me).
What would you rate the expansion?

9/10 (so far) I only have 5 or 6 side quests to finish up then the final battle & I'm 16 hours in so it is shorter than I would like(20-25 hours). Overall though I would say Awakening easily has a superior art style, story, layout of towns, better way of introducing characters & events, a more creative take on the land, with a much better chat system that really pulls you into the game instead of never ending random conversations that felt out of place in Origins. If this expansion was 30+ hours I would easily prefer the expansion over Origins. Only downfalls are DLC, the many bugs, small quick bar that limits you way too much, & really easy(even though I'm sure this game was designed to be easier since you're a Warden Commander who has seen & done a lot of great things, a challenge is always more fun).

6/10 because I want to be nice...
The story is quite good but
- lack of continuity
- abrupted ending
- new dialogue system not working very well
make my evaluation to drop

Still not finished my first playthrough but it's dropped to an 8.0 from 8.5 so far as last night I had my first crash which forced me to replay about 30 mins to get back to where I was. Up till then the bugs were bizarre but easy to look past. Still really enjoying all the new locations and characters, and bugs aside, it's enhanced my DA experience very nicely. I've not noticed or cared about most of the things that seem to be bothering so many people. However I got my copy for about half the cost of what others have paid so I'd knock off another point if I was in their shoes.
So an 8.0 for now but that could rise or fall by the end.

+RuneCrafting
+New Talents and spells
+More Dragon age and more fun
- Vigil's Keep (choices didn't have a great deal of impact)
- Game's conclusion was to quick ( I feel there could of been more to get from this story lore wise)
- Time spent with companion's was too brief or at least it felt like that
- Not being able to use New talents and spells in DA:O despite the warnings added to the feeling that DA:OA was a bit of a let down at least for me.
-Bugs and a certain cut-scene...
- Choices in DA:O weren't significant...
Despite all this I think that Awakenings was a good game, very close to being great but almost doesn't cut it.

I agree with the above poster with what I thought were pros and cons, though I think I'd give the game a bit of a lower rating (6 or 6.5, compared with Origins, which I'd give a 9). I don't know, I really enjoyed the game while playing it for the most part, but upon finishing it I feel really... dissatisfied with the game. The ending was really abrupt and I think that has me more disheartened than it probably should hehe. But I'm just not feeling that urge to play it again (and again and again) with different characters like I did with Origins, which is a shame, I think.

Between 7 and 7.5. DAO would be about 9/10.
I did not encounter any really serious bugs and was quite content with how my decisions in the main game were affecting Awakening - but that is also due to a lot of my choices in the main game (had I made other choices, I might have more problems justifying a 7.5 score).
I paid about $30 for it - which is ok. $40 is a bit steep.
Being a completionist and a player who takes his time, doesn't rush and sometimes just enjoys the setting, it took me 24 hours to beat - and I had no qualms with the ending, it was allright (it's an EXPANSION). Sure, a more-in-depth ending would have been better and there is no way somebody could steal my sword - but I can accept it.
I think that the new areas (Blackmarsh etc) are done very nicely, to me an improvement over many areas in the original games. I liked a lot of the banter and the new companions, though not as good as some of the ones in DAO, were well done (I liked the Awakening Oghren for some reason more than the DAO Oghren ... never liked Zevran or even Sten that much and in contrast to them, Justice for example is IMHO a great character).

After one playthrough with an import character I'm going with a 5.5 out of 10. That may change once I finish a playthough with a new character.
Reasons
- Way too buggy for a released title. Either there was a severe lack of QA time, the QA quality was poor, or they simply didn't fix the issues found. Either way, the sheer number of bugs is embarrassing.
- The story was somewhat humdrum. Instead of an epic feel of directly affecting the world around me, I felt more like I was doing everyone's chores.
- It felt like the choices I made in Origins didn't have a real impact in the expansion.
- The game is easy. Really, really easy. While Origins wasn't exactly the hardest game ever, it is easy to solo each and every encounter without breaking a sweat.
- The companions were underdeveloped and did not provide closure to their stories. It may have been an instance of them putting too many companions for such a short title, and not having the time to work in a pay off because of it. Also, why clone Alistair as a Mage? Why not just use Alistair?
- Having Oghren as the only real carry over from Origins was a very big let down.
- Where. Was. My. Dog?
- The ending is very, very weak and lacked the depth of emotion that was present in Origins.
Two things that didn't bother me were the length and the price. I wasn't expecting as long an adventure as Origins, and felt while it could have been a tad longer, the length was acceptable. The price also, while a tad higher than I would have thought, didn't bother me much. However, what I did expect was quality at the same level as Origins. That simply was not the case, which is why I was disappointed.

Mmm...I'd give it a 6.5. Mainly because I didn't feel as close to the characters this time around. It's like, you got to know things about them, not actually know them. Their approval jumps still confuse me!
...Also, the continuity was a big issue. And the lack of romances. :C I wish they would've kept the letters in!
What I did like...Was the Architect. ^__^ Even though he could've been fleshed out more...Maybe had more screen time/dialogue.
I think I would've liked this better as a standalone game, relaly. O__o The importing got my hopes up!

I have yet to try the expansion. I feel that for a 15 hour expansion, the price should be around 10$ not 40. I am not about to waste my money on an item akin to halo odst. I payed full price for that game, and sadly it wasnt even worth half the cost that I payed for it.

Origins: 9.5
Awakenings: 6.5
-Loved the gameplay, the graphics, the pacing, the writing, but...
-The lack of continuity bothered me. It doesn't seem like it would have been too difficult or expensive to include, say, a few letters from my character's friends from Origins. Or, perhaps, an explanation as to where my bound-for-life dog is.
-Oghren as the returning companion. He's even worse this time around (grosser, nastier) and I had to start aaaaaaall over again with his approval. Seriously, is it really that hard to import an approval number? For me, it was adding injury to insult.
-Hate the new dialog system. It makes getting to know your companions very difficult. I don't want to have to spot a statue or a tree stump or whatever to initiate a conversation; I want to be able to get to know the characters on my own. With this system, you have about as much control over your relationships as you do with mob attacks. Boo.
I'm much more upset about the last point after coming here and reading that this is the directions the devs intend to go with the franchise. I get that it's a less expensive way to do it, but it tears the heart and soul out of the games.

5/10 - Average - mediocre - Not bad, neither good
Ups: Same old Dragon age (gameplay), new items, armors, weapons, skills and specializations, some funny dialogues and options,
Downs: Expensive, rushed (many bugs and glitches), No origin story for the new warden, no item transfer for the two old DLC from origins, short
I could come up with more but this is what i think of right now.

i wouldnt rate it as an expansion at all to begin with.. there's no expanding of the original story, no adding of skills/spells/npcs to the original story.. and if you import your character from the original story you actually lose equipment.. oh and story choices don't match up.. thus, no expansion..
as a side story it's ok.. i'd say 6 outta 10 (was a little too buggy for a BioWare product imo)

Hard to rate in the end really.
Where I would give Origins a 9,5/10 (respeccing was lacking, thank god for modding but still, should have been in the original), I'm not sure what I would give this.
I shouted in caps to a mate while playing this is 120% where origins was 110%, the new areas are AMAZING, I literally jawdropped in the Blackmarsh and the Dragon Wastes, and I haven't been everywhere yet (I wanted to go to war, not knowing I wouldn't return)
But then there was the ending... The castle was EPIC, seriously, that was just pure amazingness. But the real final dungeon was a slight dissapointment, altho I loved the mechanics of the final battle.
I think I'll go with a 8,5/10 rather then the 8 I was planning to give it, cause thinking how good it was for the places I've been to was like a lil trip down memory lane.
BioWare (for it's games, not it's DLC's, but that's for another thread)

Looked good, fun exploration, interesting fights and story elements, but those story elements were undeveloped. There were either too many, or it wasn't long enough to do them properly, take your pick. It didn't have an ending so much as it just stopped abruptly, leaving no feeling of closure. My opinion of the game took a nosedive after the final battle. I couldn't believe that was the end.
Excellent new characters, but It was hard to get to know them or feel close to them given the awkward new dialogue system. It's very easy to miss conversations and offputting that the companions are so snotty if you try and talk to them when you want to. It's also annoying when you spoil puzzles for yourself by running around with the tab key down to avoid missing dialogue triggers.
While I didn't enjoy the darker tone, I know there are people who do, so I took no points away for that. It probably would have bothered me less if the ending had given some feeling of victory, but it didn't. It was amazing how much a win felt like a terrible loss.
It did lose points for crashing to the desktop frequently during battles.
By comparison, I'd rate DA:O about 9.5. Only a few small issues stood between it and a 10.

Seven out of ten. The story felt a little stunted (plot points cut off far to easily and quickly), and the inability to communicate with your companions outside of special tags or items was frustrating.

This is my feeling on it as well.
Feels thrown together. Buggy. Lack of continuity. The companions have potential but fall flat. I really miss my old party. The cameos, insignificant as they were, just made me miss them all the more.
I find myself getting bored and distracted while playing.
5.5/10 maybe? Would not buy again for this price.

Hmm- I would say somewhere between a 7.5 and 8 on a 10 point scale. While it didn't really bring many of your past decisions to bear on the story, it didn't really need to (since it was in a different land). I still don't understand why they felt the need to bring back Oghren rather than Dog, since there is no story-based reason to deny Dog and I would have preferred to have him anyway...
I also don't like how EVERYONE felt the need to become a Warden- seemed a bit contrived, especially since being a Warden entails certain death and service to THE ORDER. Would a failed renegade Elven keeper that despises humans actually join a group composed mainly of humans? No. Would I have forced Howe to join? Yes, for the same reason I did Loghain- to neutralize him as a political threat and force him to fight for the common good (or conveniently die in the Joining). A LoD soldier? Prob, works with the mission. Anders? Maybe- to escape the Chantry.
Story was interesting, especially when you tied it in with the Architect. Didn't like the new dialogue system- LIKE chatting with my companions about Nugs, if it's an option. Liked the concept of crafting but not how you had to go to 7 diff merchants to make one item, kinda ridiculous. If they sell crafting stuff, they should sell a lot of it. It's something I've seen Bioware doing a lot lately, in ME 1&2 and DA- forcing you to go hunting all over to get armor sets or "legendary" items. I can understand some merchants having them, but there should be some primary merchants which have pretty comprehensive inventories, ie. a crafting mega merchant, an arms and armor one, a mage one, etc.
