Velanna... spoiler - spoiler - more spoiler - though more exposition was needed I bought it.
The add on? 5 out of 10.
What would you rate the expansion?

I find myself getting bored and distracted while playing.
Exactly. They made such an efford to create a deep atmosphere with the characters surrounding you in Origins and then they simply cut them out..... BioWare had to know that the 15-20 hours wouldnt be enough to bound the Player to new NPCs. The Expansion was a great chance to get deeper to the emotional "gold" of the Origins characters. What a pity!
BTW: The title of the Expansion is DA: ORIGINS Awakening. Not much Origins characters and story in there.
We all know, what (or better who ^^) was the great cliffhanger at the end of Origins, dont we?

5.5/10 maybe? Would not buy again for this price.
Same here. The new spells looks great, but a DLC would have been enough.

8 out of 10
My character had no problems annihilating everything in his path. The enemies could have been leveled up a bit harder. Certain areas in the game had too much of a definitive choice. War unfortunately has areas that are not quite so Black and White. Having some other option in there would have been amazing. Having an auto-save at the end would have made me feel better. The expansion was too good. I sincerely hope that the characters and decisions that I met and made are not abandoned in future DLC/expansions/ and DA2.
Loved the new techniques. I love the fact that my decisions feel more weighted in Awakening. The NPC actually react differently depending on my choices. Much improved. The conversations- to me are improved. My only request is that while I am in camp/keep etc I have access to switching to a different party member to craft.
Again, I sincerely hope that the characters that you meet in Awakening along with the characters that you play through Origins with are not forgotten, I also sincerely hope that the decisions that you make truly become important to each DLC/Expansion and future Dragon Age game. I want to continue my journey with my wardens. I want to see this to it's completion.

A 9 out of 10. I loved the political angle. A great detour for me!

Origins - 9.5 out of 10. Worth every penny.
Awakenings - 7.0. Fun. But buggy, borked, constrained.
IMHO, and it's just a value question, I think only a 9.0+ expansion should be $40 +. This was not in that category.
BTW, I'd bump Awakenings up to 9.0 with some patches and some DlC thrown in for free.

The party members are actually the only thing I thought was better in the expansion, mostly because the party members in the orignal annoyed the crap out me (other than Shale and Dog) Anders was blah, but Howe Justice and Sigrun I enjoyed more than any of the Origin party.

Haven't played it, but the reviews you guys are giving are all pretty average. I guess I'll buy it anyway this weekend even if it is a bit rushed, just gotta hope Bioware will do better if they make a secondth expansion (if they do.)

8.5 / 10
Price okay (30 Euros over here), lenght okay (I'm at 15 hrs. now and not finished), some bugs but nothing big so far.
And hey...it's more Dragon Age goodness after all!

Rate a 6.5, I don't think Awakening is truly an expansion. Expansion to me is an extension of the original game. Meaning, lands from the first game open up and expand with new areas to explore, same character should be able to move freely at will from the original land mass to the expansion...
I had to repurchase "bags" again to increase inventory which I thought was strange. Awakenings was not really polished, IMO ... lot of things should have been done differently.

Technical aspect: 7/10
And that's only because I've HEARD about bugs but only ever had crashing problems myself.
Implementation: 6/10
At least make it so that if the character is naked at the start, he/she is automatically given even a basic set of armor. Clothes, even! "Warden Commander! Help us! The Darkspa- oh my..."
Fun factor: 9/10
Quite enjoyed it.

I couldn't see a poll, so I made one. Yeah I know, there are too many polls as it is, but I was curious how to make one.
edit: and perhaps a link to the poll would be a good idea?
social.bioware.com/13335/polls/3739/
edit2: oh, and perhaps I should comment here as well?
The length of the expansion was pretty nice, though a bit pricey perhaps. I liked some of the new companions (especially a certain dwarf). A plus for new class skills, weapons etc, which I liked. Also, the story was good imo (including side quests). There was a lot to do. However, too many bugs and I think that the ending was way too abrupt, which kind of left me feeling a little cheated at the end. All in all, I enjoyed it very much though, 8/10.

Maybe a nice round 7. I thought the characters and story was good, and the campaign length was fine (19 hours for me). If I had found any bugs then I might be singing a different tune. Also I wish my character got a little more exposure, it feels like I was being totally overshadowed and overlooked in favour of the comedy relief.

6.5/10 at best. Its fun yes but so is a mud fight and both are sloppy executed.
£5 to much for something I finished the day after I got it with the family round as well.
Ok the dialogue couldn't be as in depth as in the full game but depute David G's excuses that the system in origin was broken in forcing people to talk to companions the new system is just a broken, if you want any interaction at all you have to find certain objects? Are they mad? They have taken choice away from the player. Before you had the choice to interact. Now if you chose to interact you have to search everything for the two or three objects that might further interactions, or have a conversation forced on you. Merge the two systems please.
The ending: need I say anything about this, abrupt contrived and makes no sense, some of it tells us the commander does things or has trouble for years while if you have an imported character and romanced liliana we are also told the commander left in under a year. Get some decent continuity checkers please bioware. Its not just dragon age where we have problems with the first wardens (catch 22 cant become a warden without archdemon blood but haven't got a dead one yet because yes no warden there to kill it) Masseffect 2 Human artifacts, boxes and machines on geth controlled abandoned quarian planets I could go on. Quality is defiantly slipping here.

I love the story for the expansion, but I felt something was definitely missing. I love the new classes, spells, armor and weapons! The new dialogue system, though, really bothers me, I loved being able to talk to my companions at any point, now they barely talk to me at Vigil's Keep, it takes away from the gameplay A LOT, I don't feel as close to my companions as I did in DA:O, not as attached. Either than that it was a little buggy, but overall satisfactory.
