Depending on the content I would pay for some mods that I really wanted.

I did not read all the posts here so I may repeat something anywho....

I think part of the issue is how much the common programmer knows of the proprietary code of the counsel. PC code is well known on the other hand. As far as content goes between the game software company, Microsoft, Sony, and so on can have a system setup for add-on's to be submitted for approval.

You were the first on-topic post this thread - you actually answered my question. Cheers!

If you already own a PC, you can go to websites such as tigerdirect.com or newegg.com and get decent parts really cheap that will play basically any pc game out there. What are the specs on your "lowish-spec PC"? You would be surprised at what hardware can actually run a game on decent settings.

Wether you intended for this to happen or not, this is now a PC vs Consoles war.

Doesn't seem too much like a PC vs Console war, but what the hell. They are fun to watch if nothing else lmao

This has always been a major difference between console and PC. It's pretty much part of the definition of a "console".

The high degree of moddability with many PC games has always been a major selling point. In fact, a major reason for the opposition to paid DLC is that we used to get the equivalent as mods and the ease of modding has suffered as a result.

Microsoft (or whomever) would have to approve every mod available and would probably hold them to certain standards. I'm sure it'll eventually reach a point where user mods get approved and sold since they certainly won't do this for free.

And if you bought a crappy computer X years ago and are upset that it won't play any games, you only have yourself to blame (the FX 5200 has always been known to be terrible for games.) It's like buying a street bicycle when you plan on going offroad. If it's too complicated for you to figure out then maybe you should stick to tricycles.

Many PC users are elitists, and feel that if you were a "real" gamer you would spend the hundreds of dollars needed to upgrade your pc to play the latest games, despite the fact that your 360, bought at the same time as your pc 5 years ago is still able to play everything while now your pc is a POS that cannot even run the character creator.

That's silly. My PC was a mid-range machine when I built it 4 years ago, and it runs DA just fine.

I said PC but i meant laptop - i thought about trying to upgrade the cards etc. but it looked HARD to say the least! And building a PC, which ive seen mentioned here a couple of times, looks REALLY HARD

I don't even think my pc would make it to the "mid-range" category but it is able to play DAO fine as well, all factory. I eventually got a new graphics card since my old one died, but it still plays it perfectly well. And I bet I spent less on this entire pc than most ppl do on consoles.

Building a PC really isn't all that hard, and I've seen laptops (and many ppl on these forums have mentioned having some) that were fairly old that could still play DAO. What specs of your pc are you lacking in?

EDIT: Before anyone says anything, I just wanna note that I built my first pc from the ground up when I was 10 and had zero training. It wasn't a very good one, but then again, it was my first attempt lol

No point in arguing whether the PC is superior to Consoles.

Spoiler: It is.

Are you happy now?

The PC is the most open gaming platform. One of the best things about PC gaming is the customisability it provides, and it's why I could never have a console as my primary gaming platform, even though I am a console owner too. The benefit that modding communities have on PC games is immeasurable.

For example, look at games such as Oblivion - the console version simply cannot compare. Mods almost literally make that game... I would find it entirely unplayable without them. There are mods to change almost every aspect of it. In my opinion, vanilla Oblivion was a pretty mediocre game, but it was saved by its great modding community.

I haven't bought a console since my old Sega Saturn. I had a PS2 given to me a few years ago but I hardly ever play it.

PC v. Console

I've played DA:O on both PC and console; my verdict:

DA:O on PC > DA:O on Console

My laptop does meet the min specs (just!) But as i've said before i don't like the interface on PC - i prefer taking control of the action myself. Its just my preference.

As for you building a PC at 10 - serious respect man!

Actually building PCs isn't hard at all provided you're not completely technologically inept. All the parts are made to be easy to install, after all. The hard part is making sure you order components that won't have driver conflicts and whatnot.

If you build your own, you are almost guaranteed to pay half as much as a company-built computer.

lol don't go overboard with the respect on that! It was a real POS made from spare parts i found at various places lmao. It was so crappy it wouldn't even run the original Windows OS, I had to use DOS. All I used it for, however, was writing homework assignments lol.

EDIT: Sorry, dude, I must have missed that post about not liking the interface on my first read. my bad

You want PC content for consoles, here's your explanation why you can't:

http://social.biowar...x/318985#320479

It's perfectly reasonable. Just get a PC like others have suggested. :|
