Alright, so I sent a message to my Geometry teacher saying not to call my parents. I wrote it like this.

"Its me, Ryan, don't call my parents about my progress report not getting signed, because than I'll have to study more and not be able to play Mass Effect 1 and/or Mass Effect 2, now what would you rather have me do, save the Citidel from Sovereign and Defend the colonies from the Collectors, or study Geometry."

He has a sense of humor, hopefully he'll understand, anyone else in any situations kinda like this?

Nope, not in that situation.

I let "vidya games" rule my life and now I'm paying the price. Was it worth it? Possibly. Would I recommend it? Nope. The rest of my story is available in podcast format.

I wonder if your teacher will buy that? If it was me I would wait a day to reward your amusingly brazen plea. After that day all bets are off. I hope your teacher has a sense of humor, assuming any of this is true. :P

He does have asense of humor, he's the kind of person that would fire a gun full auto in his backyard drunk.

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your podcast.

I've learnt more useful things from games than I have in a geometry lesson.

Yeah, I took A-Level maths. Really was a waste of my time, especially with my teacher. I failed a paper and he told me he didn't expect anything else. To my face.

'tis nothing more than a load of self-pitying whining and BS, really.

Is it me or is it a little strange that a teacher gives his kids his XBL profile name? If I was a teacher, I wouldn't want any of my students anywhere near me, digital or otherwise, when I was off hours.

In any event, though mildly funny, I have a feeling you'll get no more than a chuckle and a phone call anyway. A for effort though.

When you're drunk and playing pool with friends, you might reconsider that statement a little. Especially if you don't like to lose.

Yeah, I'm with OnlyShallow. Video games are not necessarily a brain drain. :P Besides, I've met plenty of people with masters degrees that are unable to find a job despite their qualifications. Education matters, but how you present yourself and what connections you have are just as, if not more important.

Wouldn't say useless, just situational.

@Wicked; some teachers do befriend some of their students. One of my physics teachers was great, I even saw him at a concert once and sat with him, and he bought me a drink. As they say in my part of the world, he was a "top bloke". My Latin teacher was also pretty good, and we lent CDs to each other from time to time.

In my part of the world we freak out and label those people pedophiles, whether deserving or not. And many times they turn into scandals in the media.

Simpsons reference on my part.

I was surprised too. In our increasingly litigious world, that's a recipe for trouble.

She does that a lot. :P

1 - Could be directed at me.
2 - Could be directed at you.
3 - Could be directed at the OP's teacher.

Either way, meh. ~Shrugs~

Edit: On a side note, it's true that is weird. A teacher that hands out his XBL account is odd on its own, but that he is also thought of as an eccentric drunk? That's er... strange... I'm a little surprised he has a job if it's public knowledge.

Some of them are, yes. But it's a shame we're so paranoid in modern, western society. Just because my teacher bought me a drink, it doesn't mean he was trying to groom me. Just because the OP's teacher gave him his gamertag (or the OP found it, that does happen), it doesn't mean the teacher in question is a sexual predator. What is so wrong with knowing adults?

@wrexingcrew; Ah, apologies. I've not seen any recent Simpsons episodes, so I'm really behind on it. EDIT: Whoops, just looked that episode up. I think I've seen it.
@Seagloom; Yeah, could be directed at all of us too.

A chickenhawk or chicken hawk is slang used in American and British gay culture to denote older males who prefer younger males for partners, who may less often be called "chickens"[1], i.e., the prey of the chickenhawk.[2] Other variations include chicken queen[3] and chicken plucker.[2]

It is sometimes used as a disparaging vulgarity within the LGBT community, or seen as a slur against people in that community. The label can be applied to a man who seeks partners with the look of someone young, regardless of their target's age.[4][5]

Much less frequently, "chickenhawk" indicates a man who uses underage boys for his sexual pleasure. The usage was publicized by members of the controversial group NAMBLA in the 1994 documentary film Chicken Hawk,[6] although Time magazine reported it in this sense in 1975.[3]

The use and significance of this term have been the subject of academic discussions [7][8] as well as popular reports.

Dark Lilith, not contributing in any meaningful way since 6th December 2009.

Thank you for the insight on the disgusting paranoia that runs through our culture, I'm sure we were all perfectly oblivious to it.
