FYI.

The darkspawn are a race like any other, not corrupted humans. The blight taints the land. People who catch the blight either die, or become ghouls who serve the darkspawn for awhile and then die.

I am pretty sure Maria is referring to people who are infected with the blight.  People who become infected, do not become darkspawn.  Ever. Never ever ever ever EVER.  The Calling's thing is different.

It's a bit sad that isn't the case though. If infected humans, elves, and dwarves did become darkspawn we could get some zombie apocalypse craziness.

That said, I didn't know this was such a common misconception. Even I knew this about the darkspawn, and I'm going out of my way to avoid lore.

It's a conspiracy! The darkspawn are actually the elders of the village dressed up to scare people away from the forest so that they don't figure out that they're actually in the modern world!!!

Well... Technically the Darkspawn ARE mutated humans... At least the first ones anyway (I know what Caliban meant, sometimes I jsut like to be cheeky )... I guess it is the myth about these first Darkspawn, which has mislead people about the Darkspawn nature.

I think I like it better that way, it gives us a zombie apocalypse and an invasion by an incomprehensible race out to destroy all life. There's something for everyone.

I got the impression that the dark spawn are like their own race or something similar, but to be perfectly honest, I haven't looked at the lore at all. I like to experience things through my character in game. All I know is the darkspawn are evil and need some slayin'.

I guess people may have confused the race darkspawn and the faction darkspawn. While it's true that ghouls become sided and part of the darkspawn faction, they can never truly become one of them.



In Warcraft's term, it's similar to the relationship between Burning Legion and the Scourge in the beginning.

I also think after a archdemon eats a ghoul after its done out pops a darkspawn.There is a reason why the darkspawn blood is like that.
