Now this is a story all about how
Ferelden got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I tell you how the Blight started causin' a scare

In west Highever born and raised
In the Cousland's castle is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
Training in the kingdom that I'd one day rule
When a couple of traitors
Were makin' demands
Started causing trouble in my father's lands
There was one little massacre and Duncan got scared
He said 'There's a Blight on and you gotta help me get prepared.'

I whistled for some companions and when they came near
I realized I'd pre-ordered the game and gotten some free gear
If anything I can say they should have got some stuff bestowed
But I thought 'Nah forget it, yo homes to the Deep Road!'

We. Pulled. Up to the entrance in Orzammar around 7 or 8
I yelled to the dwarves 'Get out the way!'
I looked down the Deep Road
I was finally at the pass
To die cold and alone underneath Thedas.

@AClockworkMelon

I understand spoilers and where they go, was merely providing a source to my claim.

I know were the real darkspawn come from.

Darkspawn are bioware/dragon age fans who broke and lost their minds in waiting. Their need for Dragon Age destroyed their minds and bodies. Now they are worthless hulks of their former selves, driven to kill to pass the time until November the 3rd. Their numbers continue to swell daily. Soon all of us will join them, and lay siege to the Bioware HQ in a bloodthirsty attempt to acquire the game.

Definitely the way darkspawn are made

I also assumed humans could become Darkspawn until I started reading The Calling where they state most humans just waste away and die when infected or some become ghouls and eventually die.

I guess it poses the question that a mortal can only be made a darkspawn if they had been in the group that entered the Golden City.. And are there any of the originals left? Could they have been made immortal? Maybe I missed something. :D

Again look at my post... but it is a spoiler.

What part of "don't post spoilers in this forum" do you not understand?

Posting "spoiler tags" is bad enough, but twice now you've referred to it without any tags at all. Stop it, please.

Well, I have yet to finish the Calling... just picked it up.

From what I understand of the Darkspawn: From what the Chantry says, the darkspawn are like the orcs from Tolkien who were once elves that were twisted, but instead were corrupt magisters who became twisted. Different species from the rest after that. However that raises the question of the uruk'hai or goblin/human hybrid.

For the loremasters here, do the darkspawn have genders? Or do they just spawn from those brood mother things? Seem like ants or something to me.

How many epic fantasy stories do you know of where the big bad army has to wait 18 years for them to raise an army?

They can dress up as darkspawn for Halloween, though.

This I will do, and no one will stop me.

Not offline, unfortunately. But that would be kickass.

Also, David, your avatar is awesome. For some reason I always saw you that way, so seeing you in the videos for dragon age made me go, "OMG he's so young!"

Well... the darkspawn seem to take some 100 years or so, first blight was 1000 years ago, last blight was 400 years, only 4 blights in 600 years? This is only when they find a dragon, but geez, takes them forever to become a giant threat to Thedas again.

Edit: Oh, and I don't know that many epic fantasy stories, but the one I'm most familiar with is Tolkien, and it took Sauron a long time to raise his armies. Took years for the goblins/orcs to repopulate enough.

And it will turn out that Ohgren is the PC's father. Regardless of what species the PC is, because Ohgren just works that way.  The father in the Origins is a lie. Ohgren is truth.
