This is driving me mad, and I think it's related to a DA:OA patches, because no problems before that:

Seems no matter what I do, my archers (and this includes Leliana) with Aim will draw their bow, notch and arrow and do nothing—just stand there, arrow notched, following a target, and if the target can live about 30-60 seconds, they might fire. Without Aim, the rate of fire is about as long as Aim used to be. With Rapid Fire, the animation is less than "normal" used to be. It's like a 3–4x modifier got accidentally put in for firing rate, really annoying.

WTH happened? I thought it was just my main character, but I just realized Leliana is affected to, and it's so bad I'm simply faceplanting because only Shale and Alistair can do anything. Pretty much going to have to give-up on Archers until someone can explain what the deal is and when it might get fixed.

(I got a pre-patch archer pretty far into the game with no issues, this post-patch guy is too bugged to make it through Soldier's Peak…)

Figured one thing out…it's Shale causing it. Which is odd, because the idea was Shale is supposed to HELP the archers, not make them useless. But taking him out of the party (just swapped-in Dog) and re-running the scenario that has been driving me batty for the last 30 minutes and problem solved.

ADDENDUM: Well of all the…the very talent that is supposed to HELP archers is hindering—Shale's Rock Mastery. If I switch it off and turn him back into a tank (Stoneheart) everything returns to normal, even mid-combat.

Did I misread someplace? I've re-checked a couple of Dragon Age Wiki sources, and I am led to believe that Rock Mastery is supposed to reduce aim speed. But it appears to be increasing it, by a factor of at least 2, if n
