Not sure if I love or hate rune crafting

I like the idea of runecrafting. Being able to make powerful runes that fit with your playstyle is wonderful. However, its my opinion that the way it was implemented into Awakening was horrible.

- As someone mentioned, it would be great to buy all the matterials and then go straight to Masterpeice/Paragon Rune which takes all the materials in one click.

- Either the Runecrafting Store should have been outside the main hall so you could get your companion to craft, or you should have been able to access their crafting from within the camp so we could all avoid running inside then outside during the session. Thats something that should be fixed in Dragon Age, period.

- Awakening was far to short and far to easy for Runecrafting to shine. The runes were incredibly powerful, and they were a bit of a pain to make...so I found myself not wanting or needing to craft.

- I hated that Runecrafting was the only way to get decent runes besides importing them or finding them as loot.

I'll second (or third) what lots of folks are saying. The concept was cool, the implementation clunky. I had to dig out a scratch piece of paper and check off which levels of which tracings I had, then go around and get missing tracings. Then buy supplies > go outside with Velanna > craft a few > run out of something > go back in... sheesh. And then I found out there was only about 40 more minutes left in the game. My second play through I skipped it completely except for what I needed for the Wade quests.

I wonder how hard it would be to mod in some dwarven smuggler type character (or such) to show up as a new merchant in the courtyard to sell the useful runecrafting ingredients?

That would be awesome and solve all my irritation with the system, about the same as pointed out on previousd posts, although I love the runes.

No contest here. I hate it.

Especially having to leave the keep in order to get Anders to be able to make runes. Then realize I don't have something, then have to travel around to different shops.

Hate all the math involved, having to go up tiers. I ended up over buying and wasting money. Blows.

They really, really need to improve their crafting interface. This is just awful.

My suggestion for ME2 was that the person who was responsible for planet scanning should be asked by Bioware to scan planets until ME3 so as to realise how tedious it is.

My suggestion for DAO is that the person who is responsible for runecrafting should be asked by Bioware to apply runes to items until DAO 2 for exactly the same reason.

Id suggest to everyone to stop at grandmaster runes. Beyond that the pricing becomes ludicrous.

Hate how unorganised it is, and how id have to leave the throne room to do it. The worst bit tho is when it bugs, and all the runes you've worked so hard to create change to armour runes or weapon runes instead of what their supposed to be. Having a chestpeice which does 30 damage to darkspawn on attack is just.....

Also, some of it seems buggy. I'm trying to make my Grandmaster Lightening rune; I have a Master Ligtening rune in my inventory, and I have the recipe for Grandmaster, but for some reason my top-tier runecrafting skill is unable to make the game realize that I have everything needed to make the rune. The crafting screen shows Master Lightening rune as missing.

I've spent a LOT of money and time on this. What a waste.
